Anyone purchasing anything from the Frontline auctions?

So took the landy out went through a creek a little too fast/deep and looks to be dead alternator (as well as the starter motor solenoid dieing/shorted to gnd when active{fixed now})

Anyone buying anything from this lot of auctions? If so if i were to win an alternator any chance you could pick it up for me and drop it off somewhere (auspost/pack and send) to send to SA?

Actually has anyone ever grabbed some parts from these auctions, lemons? anything i should be looking for in the images (excluding the dreaded XX) aka should I stop being a tight ass and just buy a new one from the auto electrician.

Be aware that nearly all the parts sold in the AFM auctions are used parts and were removed from vehicles for a reason, usually because they are dead. I have purchased 2 alternators in earlier auctions mainly for spare parts and both were stuffed, 1 had a burnt out field coil and the other had burnt diodes. Probably get enough bits to make 1 out of the 2 and have a spare part or 2 as well. Best advice would be to get a new one as you will probably be disappointed if you get one from the auctions and find it is cactus.
    Cheers......Brian

Don't even bother. As Bearman said, Mechanical parts from the auctions should be treated and valued as scrap.

You can get an aftermarket replacement for it for ~$425 (what I paid anyway)
It's a JAS(brand) ANJ-027. You will need to take it to a mechanic to get them to swap the pulleys over, otherwise it bolts straight in.

Beware of the bolts that hold the Alternator in. Start spraying penetrating oil daily now so when you get around to changing it, you have a chance of getting the bolts out.

<edit> the world is a funny place. You can get one from the states, delivered for $307.66 AU. From eBay here. You'll still need to get the pulley swapped on this one.
