Anyone buying anything from this lot of auctions? If so if i were to win an alternator any chance you could pick it up for me and drop it off somewhere (auspost/pack and send) to send to SA?
Actually has anyone ever grabbed some parts from these auctions, lemons? anything i should be looking for in the images (excluding the dreaded XX) aka should I stop being a tight ass and just buy a new one from the auto electrician.
Be aware that nearly all the parts sold in the AFM auctions are used parts and were removed from vehicles for a reason, usually because they are dead. I have purchased 2 alternators in earlier auctions mainly for spare parts and both were stuffed, 1 had a burnt out field coil and the other had burnt diodes. Probably get enough bits to make 1 out of the 2 and have a spare part or 2 as well. Best advice would be to get a new one as you will probably be disappointed if you get one from the auctions and find it is cactus.
