    4BB1 is an old 3.6 L - was supersceded by the 4BE1 (also 3.6 L - but more power and torque than a 4BD1) because it was known for breaking cranks in trucks.

    There is also a 4BA1 (2.8) and 4BC1 (3.3)

    MY 4bd1 has the letters cast into the block just under where the
    dip stick comes out

    dont know much about the isuzu engines, but the tojo 2.8 is as strong as an ox but a bit of a dog on the highway. are isuzus the same?? Vehicle has o/drive so...

    A 2.8 non turbo isn't anything to write home about. But with a turbo added it'd be quite good.
