The wires come out of a rubber grommet on the 40A banger, that has the plug of the 70A Hitachi

Spend 600 beer tickets on an alternator/vac pump combo, when its working, or even repairable??

    70A is plenty

My guess is that with the acquisition of this new landy project Inc's days of breeding or even attempting to breed, or just even keeping in practice for breeding.....are over.....

He'll be practicing again, driving an Isuzu powered Landy is a semi erotic experience. (may be the vibrations)

I've got an OEX alternator which is probably a straight copy of that hitachi. The terminal for the tacho output is in that round plug with 4 wires. It's a 7 volt ripple which any multimeter can find.
Mine are all bundled up so I can't tell you which colour.

The OEX codes for my alternator are wrong. I had a fruitless argument with the auto sparky who installed it (he said the charts are never wrong), he was using the tacho feed wire (7v ripple) to turn the charge light off, he wired something else into the batt voltage feedback circuit so it was charging at 16 volts.
He wouldn't capitulate, so I took it home and fixed it myself.
