Turning the fuel up on the isuzu..

    Hi all
About 6months back we got the pump rebuilt on our isuzu 4bd1 N/A, they set the fueling back to standard.
Ever since she has barely blown a breath of black smoke
So if anyone could help us out on how to fuel it up a bit that would be great

    Thanks in advance TIM.

There is a a bit of all thread with a lock nut on the drivers side of the pump that operates a cam, that is the fuel screw, 1/2 turns at a time

be VERRRRYYY careful without a pyro, never played much N/A but without boost, it'd be hard to get the temps up as the fuel won;t burn

Oh yea, turn it anti-clockwise for more fuel

wot he said but be careful with the adjustment you can wind up with it not wanting to turn off and upping its idling depending on how well the pumps been setup in the first place.

if it doesnt want to idle correctly just shift the fuel control arms stop bolt (it'll be obvious which one that is and that should also take care of the not wanting to shut down problem as well.

the N/As wont blow excessive EGT's if overfueld but they will overheat if pushed at full fuel while labouring for too long.

Well dad had a play today, he turned the thread 1/2 a turn and couldn't realy notice any power increases
So then another turn and that made a big difference
It's like having another gear...it just wants to rev more
It blows a bit of smoke though so will have to see what the fuel consumption is like now

Hi Tim, sorry got your PM but promptly forgot to reply to it after reading it and getting back to work

What everyone says is on the money, I think though you would be getting a fair few complaints about excessive smoke before you would do a NA engine any harm, and yes, they will run hotter under full load if you wind them up too much. Turboing will fix ALL of these problems though....

so long as you keep your smoke under control with your right boot (or lack thereof) I bet the fuel burn doesnt get too much worse.

    oh, its a turbo...

    FIT AN EGT GAUGE....

650 is the reccomended max temp....

The suzi can produce metal melting temps if it tweaked up and pushed too hard.
