    Sticky accelorator

Hey my accelorator has been sticking as i push it in at first i thought it was the cable but i installed a new cable. And it continues to happen every now and then its very annoying as its clunky after it sticks. Ive also been havin issues with my power steering every now and the the steering can get can get very heavy. By the way its an isuzi powered county. Any help with either of these issues would be very much appreciated.
    cheers Michio

    Hi,

Try checking the pivot for the pedal, they can get sticky from moisture etc in the footwell. Spray some CRC or WD40 all over it and try it. As for the steering, apart from the fluid level etc, check the uni joints in the steering column for seizing, again, after wet weather.

My 4BD1 120 has done this. The soundproofing mat was not fixed down and slid forward. The mat has a U shape that caught on the accelerator limiting screw in my case. Fixed the mat down and all is good now. May not be your cause but a possibility.

Is the steering problem intermittent..... Hot or cold and at what RPM?

thanks ill spay some lubricant on the pivot. Ive checked the fluid level so i might have to have a bit more of a look, i think moisture is to blame because its been raining for weeks in Coffs Harbour. Not too mention the elecs are also playing , i want it to stop raining so i can dry my car out a bit lol.
    Thanks for the info.

Ill have a look at the mat it is loose so hopefully that will fix it. The steering started really intermittently hot or cold now its slowly getting worse. It seems too do at any rev range too! Why does every thing happen at once i just replaced the water pump which wasnt cheap [$500 from isuzu]. Thanks for your help Tony.

When the steering uni's seize they can make it feel like it's a much more serious problem with the steering. They are fairly easy to pull off and check, so I would start there.

Accelerator- my experience is that it was the carpet hooking onto the stop bolt.

Steering - 1. u-joints as stated, but another problem I had was the bolt on the top U-joint hooked into the intake hose to the aircleaner and wrapped the stiffening wire round the steering shaft. Felt just like the power steering had quit (complete with increased noise that had to be the pump sucking air - it wasn't, just that the intake was noisier!).
