    4BD1T Intercoolers

I know this has been talked to death in other threads, sorry
I really need to get a bit more out of my 120 with out pushing the EGT any further so I will have to inter cool it.
I would like to go air water but cant justify the cost so air to air it will be. I'll likely have to forget putting air con in it as a result
I noticed today auto barn had a large ricer inter cooler that looked suitable as far as fitment goes for around $360 + plumbing.
I haven't got the dimensions of it yet but I would assume the bigger the better to a point.

Just wondered where you found your coolers and what science is involved in getting it right.

    Thanks Tony

Yea, ebay has cheap as intercoolers, but 3" outlets are going to be far to big to route around, I think 2.5" would be feasable, maybe smaller, need to talk to JC about the one he fitted and Ridjidij about what his is also

Not all intercoolers are the same even if they are same size or even bigger.
Its the way they are internally and the way they flow.

I just put in a new intercooler in my Disco from TRS and its same size as original but better quality and flow etc internally.
Made big difference. Mu mate did similar on his Audi S3 and wow. Quality intercoolers are definately worth the money.
I would do some research and not just get the cheapest.
I still have the old one from my Disco, you can have that if you like but i can not guarantee it will do the job.

As said in other posts, I am not fan of Isuzu but its worth doing right because I do know that when they go well they are unstoppable.
So good luck with research. Maybe call some diesel injection guys or some Isuzu truck places, they may have exactly what you want.

    G'day Tony,
I'm also looking at dropping my EGT's a little more, so I recently bought a bigger intercooler which I'm yet to fit.
As for the science behind size etc to suit an Isuzu powered County,120 or similar, I don't think you can go too big if you fill up the available space in front of the radiator, ie bigger the better, but to a point.

This is the IC I have fitted at the moment (CXRacing IC0035. Core size 550x180x65)

This is the new IC I just bought directly from CXRacing in the USA (IC0029-25. Core size 500x300x75) AU$233 delivered. The beauty of this IC is it's a 3" core with 2.5" outlets and will fit straight onto the silicone hoses I already have in place. It will need some minor alterations of mounting brackets to fit it, but shouldn't be a problem.
It's pictured here next to a Td5 Defender IC and a 300 Tdi IC, so should give you an idea of size.

    Cheers, Murray
