    Harrop eLocker Prices... scary!

    Holy moly are these things expensive.

    Just quoted $1650ea. supply only for a 24 spline elocker to suit the rover diff.

    that's def/rrc/d1-2 rover banjo diffs.

    If you have a salisbury, the news is worse. $2200 for the rear supply only.

    P38A owners, you get some wallet relief... only $1500 for yours.

    Now when you compare this to the price of the same articles for other vehicles - i.e. tojo / pootroll, bleeps and the 'suv' market, we're being screwed on the price.

    any dana model is 1250, pootroll is 1500, tojo 40/60/70/80 series is $1500

    Now, what I heard is that Harrop have just had to install new cnc machines to cope with the production, meaning prices aren't going to budge for some time.

    Also, the distribution is tied up with opposite lock, so you don't have any chance to shop around on price.

    When you consider the amount of use a locker would get in your average LR/RR then you're probably still better off copping the exchange rate hit and import duties, and purchasing Dave Ashcrofts ATB centres, or even a quaife if you have deep pockets.

    Also: weigh up the investment... Average RRC/disco prices are sub 10K all-day every-day, and most are around half that.... so investing 3200+ bucks in parts, plus labour, the possible need to change your axles (especially if you have 10 splines, because the lockers are only available in 24 spline) and other sundry items.... All of a sudden you're looking at investing more money than the vehicle is actually worth... not a good idea from an insurance perspective either.

    truetrac prices incidentally were around $1k ea supply only, for rrc/d1 quoted to me, so it's another cheaper option.

    I guess the only saving grace is theyre locally manufactured... so I'm told anyway. I do wonder how much money is going back to Eaton in the US....

    Maxidrive.... JacMac... what other choices are there? Especially when you want your money going back into local owned companies, it doesn't look like there are many options.

    Detroits from Lucky8LLC in the US is also a good option. I got my front TrueTrac and rear soft locker from there. About US$65 in freight to your door each IIRC. I got them to pre-fit new carrier bearings also for a nominal fee so I could just drop them in when I got them. Very helpful.

    Ashcroft for a full locker
    I'd then pick TJM ProLocker or Harrop.
    Then an ARB Air Leaker but that's just me

    Ditto, Detroit (no think locker ) from lucky8, good company, for my rear with Hy-Tuff rear axles to ensure far less chance of destruction. This combo will ,even with exchange rate, still be less than a ei, ei , o locker whilst being stronger ,with the added bonus of not needing to modify the diff to get wires in.
    I've also just got a Ashcroft ATB for the front, yet to install though. If I did more/ heavy off roading I'd probably go an Ashcroft locker in the front with axles/cv's.

    I went through this same dilemma a little while back trying to source a front selectable locker for the 110.


    I priced all available supply only options, and yes e-locker came out most expensive.
    I had almost sealed the deal on an Ashcroft Air locker which believe it or not I could get cheaper brand new here in aussie from a well know qld distributer rather than direct from Ashcroft out of the u.k! This was the cheapest/best option I could find outside a chinese job.


    I was lucky and found an e-locker on ebay brand new never installed minus the wiring loom (which mate and I can make) for $600 delivered. He sold his prject truck and all his parts...so I got lucky!
