    Pickles.
It always amuses me when the commentators rave on about how close the finish is/was. They never mention it's all to do with the safety car.

The safety car is as much a part of the race as the race cars themselves.
Tactics allowing for the safety car position cars for a close finish.
I didn't realise how many close , and I mean incredibly close , finishes there have been , until I have been watching all the history on Foxtel.
For pure motor racing spectacle and drama there is nothing like it in the world.
I cannot actually recall a boring race.

    G'Day Rambling,...EXACTLY the way I feel.
Sometimes ya think ya know what's going to happen, who's gonna win etc, who's made a blue, a mistake, whatever, and then "SOMETHING" really does happen, the race gets turned upside down,...and it's a whole new ball game,....that's Bathurst!

    Bathurst 2017.

    Love Bathurst, better than Christmas.

Caught all of day 1 practice on telly at work. Some of them were having a red hot go. The Giz and Slade hard into the wall over Skyline already. Chaz nearly a repeat of his leg-breaking stack.

With the Prodrive cars doing well at Sandown, DJR Penske looking very slick, Pye and Luff in the Walkinshaw and Dumbrell with Whincup killing it as usual, Lowndes and Richards tidy as usual, it's shaping up to be a great race.

    Big Kevving!

yes Ballbag, excellent first day for sure, with a few "incidents".
The BIG news from yesterday was the announcement from the principal of Walkinshaw Racing, Ryan Walkinshaw, that He has secured three new business partners including Andretti Autosport & United Autosports. Andretti has already mentioned that they are relishing the prospect of competing against their well known "ädversary" Roger Penske. The third new "member" is Zak Brown, executive director of McLaren Technology, so there's certainly some "heavyweights" coming onboard.
There is also a sensational new circuit at Tailem Bend, with 18 rounds set in stone for next year.
So, it appears to me, that despite all the negativity from some, Supercars is looking pretty good, with two big U.S. names, Penske & Andretti involved, and particularly in view of the very tight sponsorship/dollar situation existing in Aussie.
Supercar quali this afternoon, Top Ten tomorrow, My "Big Bathurst Breakfast" followed by the race on Sunday,.....gotta be happy with that!

Just thinking, for some of you guys who're not really interested, and that's fair enough, there's some forms of motorsport I'm not interested in too, but if you can, watch a practise session, quali etc, and listen to how the cars are adjusted/tuned etc, how the times come down, and you might learn a little bit about how complex & hi tec these cars really are, even for taxis!? For example,..these guys go as hard as they can in every session, but Warren Luff, one of the best co-drivers, has gone from a first session practise time of 2.07.7, to a second session of 2.06.78, to a third practise session this morning of 2.05.45,just through the continual & complex adjustments that can be made to many parts of the car!...I find it enthralling to learn how it's done.

What times and channel - or it only Foxtel viewers get this now? I know the main race is telecast on FTA but didn't think anything else was, but if it is, I'll tune in.
