We don't have to cheat, we are better than that. If other teams want to do it and get caught they should suffer the consequences. The fact that this Australian team has cheated will put a stain on our team for many years. As an aside I read on the front page of the Sydney "Daily Telegraph" that Trevor Chappell tells how the underarm episode against New Zealand in 1981 forever tainted him and he warns Smith what to expect.

The whole Country loves a 'clean' Winner - be it free from drugs or cheating, there's nothing better - Aussies HATE cheaters. Smith will be forever remebered as a cheater now, his career is shot even if it was going on before doesn't matter. The talk back on radio yesterday was about 99% against this with only a couple of people saying it was ok because it's always happened.

The public outrage is what is likely to get Smith and Warner sacked, not CA who would consider this a catastrophe for the team, but it needs to be done.

I think it goes higher than those 2 though, Lehmann must have known as would others.

CA needs to think long and hard about this - letting them off with a slap on the wrist will forever ruin the brand on the Australian Cricket Team.

I imagine a whole bunch of young cricketers in junior grades will be watching this with interest as it will set the tone for what they think they can get away with when they get to the senior level. Whether you believe the decision to cheat was good, bad or indifferent, CA would do well to nip this in the bud straight away.

Yep, I see Renshaw and Sutherland both on the plane to SA ahead of a big announcement.

This entire thread is hilarious. Have you all looked back at what you have said?

My two bobs. This has been coming for years. If the South Africans or the English had done this you would be all over it, and gleefully as well. The fact is decency in cricket died with Adam 'I will walk' Gilchrist. He was the last decent sportsman to play the game, and his sportsmanship, and the game itself, died under the Captaincy of one Steve Waugh. Waugh, like Chappelli before him, saw $$$, and nothing else mattered. Cricket died with those two blokes. I know I will be howled down with this opinion. All that means is that I am older than you, and remember a day when cricket meant something other than money.

Donald Bradman would be causing tremors at Adelaide's Centennial Park. See? How many of you knew he was buried there? How many of you know who he was, and I don't mean his batting average.

There is no excuse for what people are led to believe is cricket. What we see now is disgusting and disgraceful. If you are disturbed by what you see, think about not watching, and not supporting the viewing platform you subscribe to. Oh, wait, that's a little too hard, isn't it?

Not for me. I have ditched the whole thing. It disgusts me, and I paid it money? How stupid is that? Oh, that's right, it was "entertainment". Right.

Enjoy your bills. Enjoy paying for the travesty that you call cricket.

And there, Eevo, grammar aside, is the problem, writ large. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$. **** the game, as long as I'm ok. Does that work for you? It doesn't for me, and I'm done with it.

That, however, has been my position for 20 years, give or take. When did Gilly stop playing? Last decent Australian cricketer in my view. Plenty of good guys playing elsewhere.
