GMC is an american Company General Motors Company the supply spares and things for holdenOriginally Posted by Quiggers
To be specific vmorph the Holden op in Oz is as follows
HMC: Holdens Motor Company which builds cars
HEC: Holden Engine Company which builds engines
A long time ago before the local GM (not GMC) nearly went belly up, it was known as GM/H.
In the US GMC is referred to as the truck division and still exists in badge engineering of product shared with Chev (as primary 'other' truck badge).
HMC Aust builds the Commodore and derivatives
HEC Aust builds motors available to any other builder/manufacturer who wants the products. You'll find these engines in Daewoo vehicles, which Holden sells in Oz as the (current) Barina and its slightly bigger sibling.
But as said before, GMC is not an Aussie badge.
Read up on company law and name registration and you'll discover why the names are why they are.

Yeah that sounds like a rivetting way to spend a day.Originally Posted by Quiggers

I was at the dump today and at the recycler were products from the other GMC - three compressors of reasonable size and I suspect not very old, but cactus - even the tanks were rusty.
BTW; given that there is a GMC in the tools business - we wouldn't have a same name (GMC), but it has surprised me that the name (GMC) was allowed - obviously GM never registered it in Aussie.
Names are fascinating VladTepes - now that's a name!

My dream car is actually any muscle car from The Buick Gran Riviera Sport to the Pontiac GTO
I have owned or nicked for a short time every car I ever dreamt of owning as a kid, except 1.
Not in Order,
SIIa Landrover
Charger, x Cop Car - Red White and Rust (Bought for $250) in the 80's. For those that remember, Hey Charger Adds, whilst signalling with the peace sign.
EH, There were a couple. Now What a car. The best one was the one my mate and I borrowed from his Grandpa whilst he was in hospital. Thank God the Wires were colour coded. Licenses back then were not really a prerequisite, though surfboards were.
The only real dream vehicle I never got that I wanted was
a Fiat 500D
Maybe 1 Day.
Call me old fashion, But I'm happy with mine so far:
- 1967 Holden HR Premier X2 (my first car, and still have it on blocks in fully original condition)
- 2001 Defender, and
- 1978 ex-mil ragtop (with spare 1981 vehicle).
All I need now is a FX or FJ Holden Ute and a big shed.
