Nothing changes... everything keeps spinning the same way, they just allow the pitch on the blades to go negative.
One little note on these choppers is that they use heading hold gyros to control the tail rotor. This means as you add or reduce collective it senses the chopper trying to twist and changes the pitch on the tail rotor to compensate. From an remote control perspective this makes the plane much easier to fly.![]()

. I like flying these things but am not very good and do not have the hand eye coordination to do anything other than take off basic flight and landings (sometimes without crashing).
. It suffered a boom strike when hovering about 1" off the ground after one of the arms holding the training balls came off and the helo tilted forward - in correcting the rotors hit the boom and then it tried to thrash itself to death. I am surprised we got off so likely with damage.
