Yeah Banj, I thought I would have a change of Avatar and this time make it a complete change from the cartoon type ones I have used in the past!!

The "canon" is actually a 40 mm anti aircraft gun know as a Bofor!! Way back in the late 1960's when I was a very young man I spent 6 years in a Army Reserve (then called the Citizen's Military Force) unit known as 113 Light Antiaircraft Battery then based at Fort Scratchley!!
It is now known as 113 Field Battery based at Adamstown. Anyway. it was an interesting six years and I learnt all there is to know about them (most of which I have now forgotten) and I worked my way up in the ranks to become a Gun Number 1, or Gun Sargeant!!

The Bofor was mainly an Anti Aircraft weapon with secondary roles as Anti Tank and until recently used on our Navy Patrol boats as their main weapon.
The Yanks used twin Bofors in the Vietnam War mounted inside Hercules C130 Gunships. They used to fly in a circular formation around the target area and blast the living daylights out of the target, as only the Yanks can do!!
When you consider they fire two 40mm rounds a second that is a fair bit of firepower.
Anyrate if you are interested have a look at this!!!!
