I agree I like the look of Countys & Defenders, but money was the problem and we wanted something as a fill in car while we organised to get an 4bd1 Isuzu into a RRC. There was an Isuzu series 3 for $3000 that looked Good, but we want a 5 speed box.

We were quoted $2800 for a transfer adapter kit to the
Isuzu 5 speed box and thought that was a bit much. It did not include Gear Change linkages at that price.

So we are still thinking how to do that Isuzu conversion.

I have seen cheap Isuzu Counties in the past, so perhaps one may come up.

If its not sold planning a trip to Sydney to purchase a Subaru Forester as a Fill in Car until we get an Isuzu Land Rover.

Give me you number Jason and I contact you on the way back-- assuming she has not sold the Subaru in the meantime.

yes sell it, and get a diesel. Cheaper on fuel. 300TDI 10 liters /100 km. Isuzu 4BD! 10-11 liters /100km.

Isuzu series 3 for $3000 at times.

If you get a TDI put on a coolant alarm. Very expensive if they overheat.

Some guys up our way have put 300TDI heads [about 700 dollars from Britain] onto 200TDI engines and recon these are great. And the 200TDI's are cheaper.

200TDI parts are hard to get. Think they also run 300 TDI timing chain and injector pump.

They claim this conversion is better than a 300TDI.

Do not ask me about the Technical issues-- if any. But I can give the name of one guy who is a forum member.

OK time for a bit of honesty & embaracment .Since the accident we had to take out all the loans we posably could from centerlink which was 3 all up.one on my pension One on Karens pension & one on the family payment , So we are down a tad over $300 a fortnight & the work Karen does doesn't cover it.We have had to change to adapt but we are we now have to pay rent fortnightly as we have a good week & a bad week its just our bad week is really a bad week .BUT the bills are paid & theres food on the table & its surprising how far you can make food go when you have to & theres so many ways to cook sausages :-) .We do pay an electric bill as such we are always in front of it as we have it taken out of our pensions before we even get it & we are quiet a lot in credit.WE are having trouble with affording our medications But we get there.

NOW as for the car neither of us want to get rid of it , its not the fuel cost we are worried about we have had cars before that cost more just to start them its the long turm of it like the tyres there upto $300 each, The green car the tyres on that where over 7 years old as it wasn't driven everyday & there is a chance we actualy mite get to go away ( we where going to maybe go away today for the night but we don't have the extra fuel money for that ) We also have a few issues about leaving the kids BUT would we just want fred to stay at home for the night without the boyfriend but to a 19 year old that's like cutting her throat.

Now Mrs HH has let us know of a car we could get cheap but we don't think we could get the money for it Also V8 Ian has told us of one but again we don't think we could raise the money. the other thing is there in Qweensland & there is noway we could get them Also they would need a blueslip to rerego them here no big drama tho.

Jim rang me the other day to let me know about the car of Carolines & he said if it came to it he could go & get it BUT there is noway we would ask him or anyone to do that & by the time we paid for a flight & fuel back we just don't think we could do it.

See Karen & I are still finding it hard that our FREINDS are concerned & worried about us its just something that doesn't happen to us & we are so used to being on our own & here for each other . Its Hard to except as the only people FAMILY that has , there has been strings attatched & you realy don't want to know about those strings ..

We had a friend lend us a little money & we are finding it hard not being able to pay them back just yet , there not worried about it but we are . There is NOWAY we are telling use this because we want sympathy or help of any kind we just think that with people concerned about us its the right thing to do & be honest with use all.

PS John I will have to decline the visit off you as we aren't really in the mind frame for visitors Karen hasn't had some of her medications as we couldn't afford them & I have very few left of mine & may not even be able to get them again as there is a shortage of them, Karen did get another script for me with some new medication BUT I find it very hard to take new medication because of the side effects & if they make me feel nausea I wont take them as use all know my biggest fear is being sick .

We are fine & coping We have never been greedy people & we are happy with no money . We are not after a free ride in anyway though a lot of people have said that's the only reason I post ed this thread they can stick there heads back up there ass for all I care , we are happy to pay our way to the end & if we don't have the money we don't go don't get or don't do ..we where actualy going to get married we even printed off the forms for notice of marriage but we will put that on the back burner for a little while longer , its been 28 years so a few more weeks or months wont hurt..

Um that's where we are today where fine happy & still living..

PS to Mrs HH & to Ian we are very appreciative of the offers but unfortunately we will have to decline them though Karen loves that car of Ians recons if she ever had the chance to own one of those that would be it .. Smallcars don't intrest me I hate them I feel so uncomfortable in them so will only ever get in one if im desperate .

    I will PM use both

Jason, my offer to go and get the car was not intended for you to pay for the trip (I'm sorry I did not make that point strong enough), I am quite happy to finance my own way to get the car and pay for the fuel back.

However, you have made your descision and that is entirely up to you and I understand that. But the offer stands, IF you decide to purchase the car, I will pay my own way to Queensland and pay for fuel for the trip back.

Besides, I would like to say "hello" to the HH's or Ian ,depending on whose offer you are looking at.

Honestly we don't know what we're going to do just yet. We would like to keep the disco. But will just have to wait & see. Vickie also has a friend who has updated a car & we maybe able to just have her old car as an everyday car. BUT it is registered but wouldn't pass again without some work. We don't know what it is or how bad it is Vickie is finding out for us. She did say it had a roll bar & some rust in the roof. The only thing we could think of was a little Suzuki but will find out. Ian has a car he could swap the disco for. Mrs h has a cheap car that could be a great everyday car for Karen. We are looking into seeing if we can raise the money.

'97 or 98 I think. climate control, leather, cruise control, four speed dual mode auto, 2.5 L 5cyl 20 valve turbo. It drives nicely and has a genuine CD/tape/ AM/FM radio, about 200,000+ kays. The speedo's not working.
