As implied by the last couple of posts, one of the major advantages of slipper springs is that they provide some friction damping. Get rid of this by fitting shackles and soft springs, and dampers become essential. And as indicated, with this sort of trailer, there a
are real problems finding room for them! They can be inclined inwards, but it is unlikely there is any structure there strong enough to attach them to.

You will probably also need to fit bump stops.

Yeah, a half decent shock mounting will be a bit of a challenge in itself. Was thinking of machining up some mount studs and weld them into a RHS top crossmember and RHS mounts welded under the axle to lower the bottom mount as far as practical.
This is not to be drag it anywhere offroad type trailer, so not overly concerned about the loss of ground clearance.

And yes, it will get bumpstops.

Bump stops pilfered off most any IFS fourby make nicely packaged stops for a trailer
I like to co-ordinate tyre touching inner guard with full bump stop compression
Not enough to damage tyres or guards and only occurs on the big hits but seems to work well enough for me
