This is us on the way back from our first trip with the new car. Mars Campers - Saturn 16 pop top hybrid.

It tows so much better than my old X5. Just felt way more stable and grounded, didn't even notice the van on it for most of the trip.

I did, however, learn that the corner of the stone guard lines up perfectly with the centre of the taillight if you try and do a u-turn a bit too tightly....

My caravan 19 ft Royal Flair towed at first by the Discovery 2 TD5 Manual and now with my L322 4.4TDV8
Both give great fuel economy however you can’t beat the enormous power of the 4.4 deisel
I have had the van since 2018 and it’s just great.
I have had a tare upgrade on the van from 2500kg to 3100 kg.
I just need to use it more🙂

So I just bought this brand new 22 foot air suspension Masterpiece Caravan 23 model never been sold.
    Full off road.
Am getting it registered next week
    Because it’s a 23 model I saved almost 40k from a 24 year model.
Cost 4800 to get it shipped from Victoria via ship to my door
Some small issues that I have fixed myself and it still has a 5 year warranty!
The L322 tows it wonderfully 😁😁😁❤️
    Very Happy!
    Brad🙂

Anyone want a really nice Royal flair??😊😊

Our first caravan. Fully electric and should be capable of the sorts of places we wish to go.
    Tows well behind the Defender.
18' with most features to be comfortable anywhere.

That's a neat looking combo, jwb! Congratulations. You'll never be home.

One thing I advise, with all things towable, is to replace the 'Ball' type tow set up, with a 360° rotation type, e.g. DO35, DO45. Much more effective in most situations, I've found. Especially if the towable thingy decided to have a lie down.

One of those was near us at Mundi Mundi.
    Quite an impressive unit.

    Wishing you great adventures!

yes it came with the DO35. So easy to connect and disconnect using the height control switches in the boot. We’re on our way to Flinders Ranges now for a real try out. So far very stable and rock solid as dozens of big trucks coming the other way.

I'm jealous. I've been lucky enough to see a fair bit of Australia, but one area that has eluded me, is the Flinders. I keep telling myself, 'One day'.

Ahem. Don't forget we have a 'Trip Report' section here.

Yes it was hot - up to 38C. Van a/c worked well but is a noisy unit. Very happy with the L663 and van after about 3800km.
Need to change the hitch height as the van is a bit nose high but completely stable - road trains have no effect at all.
Have not set up the car charging as yet and didn't need it as there was adequate solar for this trip. The van DCDC can draw up to 100A and on advice I want to limit the load on the car to 50A max. There's no way to change the van DCDC to a lower limit. I intend to put my Victron 50A DCDC in power supply mode to feed the van as I don't need it to charge a camping battery. This will limit the current draw on the car and still provide a good charge to the van.
Any thoughts from the electrical gurus appreciated.
