'Off road' must be a fairly loose term for them. I think a Mazda 3 has more ground clearance and better departure angles than that monstrosity...

Reminds me of one that I saw many years ago built at enormous expense by a mob in qld.
It had a vacuum toilet like a plane and an aircon under the bed, fed with air from a porthole plug in the wheel arch .

First time out the owner ripped the kitchen off on a post as it had nice drawer rollers and they forgot to lock it in. My old campomatic just has nylon slides maybe for a reason. Lol

Geez mate , they are about the simplest things in the universe and I can understand you are getting frustrated.

Have you tried jacking up each side in turn and getting the wife to step on the pedal and jiggle the hub and wires around while trying to push the drum around.
A trailer manufacturer told me that all is OK if the drum holds under hand pressure when you are trying to turn it. It will turn a little bit while the magnet pulls the shoes out onto the drum then should stop.
You probably have a dry joint somewhere.

the wiring meters out just fine till you apply the brakes then there is no circuit

that is slightly different behavior after checking out the wiring and replacing the old twist type joints with eccentrics.

had a meter on the wiring, continuity appears fine

i might make up a dummy lead and energize the new magnets prior to fitting to see if that makes the power vanish.

i have had the hubs off, replaced wheel bearing etc etc and all looked okay

my gut tells me it is on the passenger side magnet shorting so i bought new al-ko magnets this morning for $40ea and will fit them when i get time

    all good fun....
