What's wrong with Drab olive green?

Man i don't know what is wrong with people.
I bought some drab olive green paint a while back with the intention of painting the 130.
The issues it's raised with so many people including the missus you would have thought that they had shares in the bloody thing.
I got the paint from Protec as i couldn't get NATO drab sent over from the U.K. as they have to have chemical licenses or something.
I realise that cellulose enamel needs coating every two - three years to keep it sweet but the process is simple compared with two pack or other paint methods.......plus i wanted drab olive green, even if they matched the colour in they would have a sheen on it.
And the final aspect being that if i bugger a panel off road i can just get a roller out should i just need to cover scratches.
The main issue is that the original paint is buggered and the laquer is seperating from the pigment.

now by the looks of it that must have been in the old country, as you just don't get quality of mud like that in Australia lol
I am going to blow it on with a paint gun and may give it build up coats but after that i may go the british army way and roller it on in a few years when buggered.

Protec will mix NATO green if you ask them.

    The code is:
    • HNF/1105
    • Year: 1985
    • Make: Leyland Motor Corp
    • Name: M.O.D. Dark Green
If you want "drab" or lustreless get them to add flattening base.

My SIII FFR is painted in MOD Green by mistake when the P.O. went to the local Protec agent who couldn't find the Australian colour and mixed the MOD one thinking that was correct. Only after the paint went on and the car saw the light of day was the problem identified.

BTW: When importing paint, it has to come surface as it is a prohibited item for airfreight, particularly when in aerosol cans.

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

In Australia the vast majority of Series II and IIa 88" were deep bronze green with limestone or ivory coloured roofs (both shades of white see:UK SIII image below) and I thought they looked good. However a bit dated these days .

BTW: I had the paint mixed in automotive acrylic, more trouble to put on if enamel has been used underneath, but it can be sprayed without a booth, you can build up layers and rub it back to get an excellent result.

    Never give up mate !!
Lucky for me the Missus was the one who said for me to paint our 130 in OD.
Only thing is I got as far as the Firewall as we had our daughter and just moved house.
So if anyone spots a 1/3 OD -2/3 white DEF130 in the western sub in Melbourne That would be me
