Nata Enterprises stock and sell them here in Australia. They don't have the full kit on their website at the moment for some reason, but by the time you add the kit, EMS2 and the extended harness you are pretty much at $500 already.

However they are brilliant. I am in the process of fitting one at the moment, and I'd quite happily recommend one.

    Who uses the clock anyways!
I have EMS2 in left hole and then a pair of fuel gauges in the other two holes one for each tank.

I put mine with the square bit in front of the dash. I will post a pic later. Looks neat either way. I had an empty slot on my dash, moved the existing temp gauge there, and the MadmanII in its place

how hard was it fitting the sensors?
i've been thinking about this one for a while now. does it do the standard engine temp as well as exhaust?
On the 300 Tdi it is easy.
EGT goes into the blanking plate where the EGR is/was
Water temp goes in the top bleeding hole at the thermostat housing, comes with an adapter
Coolant level sensor is two self tapping screws in to the expansion tank (plastic one, metal one need a flotation switch). Current goes from the one screw to the other, if water drop below it makes an audiable alarm. This alone makes it worth your while
Oil pressure comes on top of the oil filter. Tpiece (supplied) where the old pressure switch was, you then put the new pressure sender and oil pressure switch into the T. Mind you just drain the oil before you do, that stuff tastes bad. And grow an extra joint in your wrist to get your hand in there
Transfer oil temp into the TC case top opening. A bit of a waste IMO, it tells you your TC is hot. I can do without that info, I would rather go for motor oil temp. Putting it in the sump drain hole is possible, but it would be very exposed to whatever bit of obstacle yo tackle. Wonder if a hole can be tapped elswhere in the sump...
Monitor in the dash, harness trough the firewall. Some cable sleeves and Bob is your aunt

The kits for sale if I recall does not supply the EGT probe, you have to get that additional. Mine cost R3200 2 years ago. Saved my bacon once already

As OB1 says, it will save your bacon someday, although I don't agree with him about the transfer box. You already monitor the engine oil pressure and coolant temp, why the temp as well?

If you are doing sand driving and/or towing, you would want to know if the transfer box is getting hot so you can give it a rest?

    Attached my installation

Also remember to earth it properly. It does some strange stuff if it is not earthed on a clean place on the engine block. I got my power feed off the ignition circuit, the monitor switch on when I put the key in the ON position

Naks I recon it is good to know when the lube is on temp on a cold morning. That is about the only reason. Since I dont do sand driving often enough I would rather have engine oil temp

It's not just off-road. Highway driving on a hot day (long periods) will see temps rise more than you'd expect. I've replaced the gears once - don't want to do it twice

What is then the safe high temp limit for the TC? I never went over 100degC even on a 38degC ambient temp after 5hours straight highway driving. Mind you I seldom have a heavy load, or push byond 110km/h

Landyonline also sell a sump extention with cooling fins for the LT230. If I was doing lots of sand I would go for this. Have more oil capacity, and some cooling fins...

you will have to tap the inlet plenum. On mechanical gauges you just use a Tee piece on the waste gate feed. On a Td5 it might be different as I think they use a modulated vacuum to operate the waste gate

A tee piece came with the EMS 2 so I have that, where abouts is the waste gate feed on the Defender TD5 turbo.

    Thanks Declan
