Ha. Exactly the same with my MY11 110. Found one in the floor of the back passenger section.

It'll be that Indian work-experience lad that TATA sent over, to learn how to put together Land Rovers, English style. He probably helped to keep down the purchase price too.

I did not build any of these cars mentioned in this thread--honest. But when I have rebuilt motors in the past I always had a nut or two left over, not knowing where they belonged--and these motors went okay.

MY11 90 here. I found one on the floor in the back, the other I was loose inside the plastic trim below the side window on the drivers side. There was a fair bit of creaking from just behind the B pillar, which then stopped before I found the 2nd one. There's a thread on defender2 forum here Defender2 - View topic - Random Bolt

Just back from the dealer, having found two nuts before, they investigated. It seems that they came from under the trim around the sliding window. I'm guessing what holds the tub to the canopy the dealer said all nuts were loose front to back.

I love Brian's anecdote above, an absolute classic

My old race car mechanic was the head mechanic at a leading Ford dealership in Sydney.

He told me that numerous times a new Falcon would come through with mysterious rattles, mostly they were handfuls of nuts thrown down the main chassis rail on the production line.
A blast into the front of the rail with the underbody sealer gun and a quick blast and rapid stop behind the dealership and all was sorted.

One new Falcon had a persistent rattle near the B pillar which they couldn't pinpoint.
After a continuing complaint from the customer they had permission from Ford to cut the B pillar open.
Inside they found a spanner hanging with a hand written tag attached.

    "you found found me !"

And going off on a tangent, the elite classic car crowd are some of the biggest bunch of crooks around.

A common practice when buying a new/classic Ferrari/Maserati/whatever is to disconnect the speedo cable and install new pedal pads.

One bloke I met had reached under the dash of his 'new' Dino and as he pulled the cable away he noticed a tag.
He grabbed a torch and it said

    "oh no, not again"

It is aye! Drivers of 90's that have this problem should be more aware of the creaking as it's closer to the drivers seat, those in 110's I suspect wouldn't hear it as easily. So if owners of new defenders are finding these loose nuts in the back you might want to check things out. Defender2 - View topic - Random Bolt

    back from dealer

I've just got my 110 back from the Dealer (gearbox repairs, 2 weeks!) and told them and supplied one of the offending nuts?washers. They couldn't find anything amiss.
    Still a bit worried though.
