thanks guys, so i guess the shock model required is still the same on the 2007 and onward defenders. was worried as eshocks only list up to 2007.

Just a bit of advice, I noticed that a 2008 130 I was working on has factory fitted high quality gas charged shocks, after 60,000km of very hard work they seem to be holding up well. 1 has some physical damage due to rocks, but only the bottom pin suffered. If the 2007 is fitted also with these shocks, they IMO would be a leap forward from the factory oil units of the past, which actually lasted quite well.
You may well find that unless you go for a good quality european shock like Sachs Boge etc you may be getting a worse outcome than factory.
Certainly stay well clear of garbage like Pedders, Rancho, OME, Tough dog etc etc etc.

Are the originals Armstrong? I see they are quite cheap from the UK. Do they fall into the 'rubbish' category?

Jeff, no Armstrong written anywhere on them, LR part number and name, shock body LOOKS like Boge, but not 100% sure. Definately different to early Tdi/td5 oil shocks etc.
To answer your Q though, Armstrong seem to be OK, unless you are working them too hard as they are oil only. I would fit them before I fitted Pedders etc though.

Woodhead were the OEM shock supplier for quite a few years AFAIK. Has that changed?
