Thanks Carl, I'm totally relaxed and enjoying the banter. Sounds like you find it antagonistic that I drive a Defender and not a Discovery. Hmm. Oh well. Vive Le differance. Best wishes.
Hi Carl. In this case at least, Mr Landy was just having a friendly dig.
Cheers, Billy.

It really has nothing to do with the type of car you drive. I take exception at someone who would suggest that anyone who waves in their Land Rover is some sort of snob who expects a wave in return. It is a fun thing to do. It creates camaraderie and and a sense of mateship. If you don't want people waving at you, go and buy a Toyota. If you don't want to wave back then don't, I don't care, just don't hold it against people who do.

Carl you're yotally missing my point mate.
I wave all the time to all sorts of vehicles and more than anything I enjoy the cameraderie of the Defender wave. That's why I'm engaging with this great thread called "where's the Defender wave gone?..."
My point is that when I wave I don't expect a wave back. If I receive a wave back that's even better, but I don't hold it against anyone who doesn't wave back. Waving is about giving, not receiving. True Mateship / Friendship is not based on the expectation of receiving. It's based on mutual unconditional giving.
[QUOTE=MrLandy;2573340]Many would argue that the Defender wave itself is elitist.
Elitist????........ I think you'd have a tough time arguing that one!
I must be an elitist. I only wave to Defender owners unless they wave to me first. I once got a wave from a lunatic in a Freelanderby the time I realised it was Shortie in a loan car she was gone.

I'm elitist because I'm just so bloody wonderful.![]()
