Yes that wave is alive and well in Townsville for Defenders drivers. Wives & GF passangers often hang over and wave like mad...great friendships in the making.
Must say very seldom get waves...or even a nod... from Discovery or Sport owners...even when driving a similar vehicle myself.
Went for a drive today up to the Cheviot Tunnel near Yea and got a wave from a 130. Then on the loop to Healesville and back via Yarra Glen got another wave from a 110.
So the wave is still going strong in Vic. :D
Did an 800km trip to sunshine coast and home agin last weekend. Saw quite a few defenders, Discos, RRs and 1 wave! :o Admittingly I was in the Disco, But a bit sad. Worst effort I have encountered. :(
Cheers Scott
Was test driving a defender in Artarmon and got a wave from a bloke in a Td5 deefer. Waved back :)
Got about 5 waves today I believe. Only 1 didnt wave back cause he didnt see me...
1 from a 130 towing a boat in nowra
1 from a blue and white 110 on my way to hyams beach
1 from a white td5 extreme (a bit of an enthusiastic wave too!)
2 from a pastel green 110 with dual finish alloys (vic plates) going the same direction as me on the hume. Did a 'thank you' signal flash as well.
and saw an orkney gray defender with boost wheels on hume heading towards goulburn at about 6pm. Waved but he was behind some trees by that point. i only noticed it was a defender because of his parker lights. lol
Hmmm, this thread also got me thinking... I won't own a Defender until late this year or early next year... so any Defender owners on the Sunshine Coast who may see a tall bloke with a shaved head wandering around the vicinity of your parked car with an iPhone, don't panic. It's probably me sneaking snaps of how you have your vehicle accessories set-up. I saw a very nice 110 wagon (white) near JB Hi Fi in Maroochydore on the weekend. Bullbar, winch, driving lights, sliders, tow bar, Hannibal roof rack... and hula girl on the dash :)
Oh, I also wave to any Defenders that I see, but they probably don't notice as my wife and I are in a black subaru forester :p
Cheers,
Nige
There aren't many occassions when I don't get a wave in Canberra which is very reassuring.
Just on a tour round tassie at the moment. didn't see one going down the whole of the west coast (beautiful and isolated piece of Australia), 2 south of Hobart, index finger solute from farmer with a load of pigs in a td5 ute and a lady in a blue 110 who gave me whole hand wave. Today was the the best both of us had the over excited wave with the huge smile to boot, thanks white 110 td5 with a camper trailer about half way down the east coast today made my day
