Well I always wave to anything with landrover on it. because you never know you might need their help anytime. especially in my discovery 1 rattling down the stuart highway. HA HA
I was traveling near Warburton Victoria on the weekend and had two Defenders pass, definitely the wave works well down here.
Cheers
Oh! so its all about fellow Puma drivers, and here was me thinking it was FFS get out of the way my brakes don't work! :)
Always wave to any square land rover the others are a different breed ( sorry just the way it is ) 20 years driving the box tells you where the waves come from. In saying that most people wave regardless of vehicle type above the 26th parallel.
I was really disappointed that when I owned a disco 4 no one waved. Now I have a defender and everyone waves. Reminds me of when I owned a 1970 Kombi panelvan.
I also stumbled on this one today (it isn't new)

That's a couple of months I have had my Defender now and plenty of waves have been coming my way....
got a wave the other day from a lady, maybe in her 40's driving a green 110 in Kalamunda, I was surprised as she came out of a junction and was changing gears but the hand still went up to give me a wave...
The wife makes fun of me cause she says that every time I get a wave I have a big stupid smile on my face, I don't care...I love it
I'm still waving at Defenders even now that I'm driving a G-Wagen. Only getting confused looks in return though.
Am yet to encounter another G to wave to.
I'm a new Defender owner and commute. Only just becoming aware of the waves. I also ride a bike and there are waves associated except with Harley owners..... Well at least not with all the fingers
