Apologies in advance to any Rangie/Disco/Freelander owners who want to take exception to the points ranking. It's definitely and immutably a merit thing - live with it. (And this from a LR fancier only new to the fold, with a newer breed Defender!)
Forgot to mention: it was actually my (then 5yo) son who set the points rating! Says a lot - how a 5yo sees the relative value of the vehicles.

My only contribution was adding the points triple if defender driver waves back.

You can have a V8 Series/Defender if you have your heart set on it

When we were over in NZ, we were over taken going up a hill just outside Auckland at 90kph by a very healthy-sounding S3 towing a Rangie on a car trailer :O

Your son wasn't parroting back anything you had said earlier was he?

Hehe not that I am aware of. I reckon he placed the Defender at the top simply cos we have one.

He spent some time in the LR showroom on several occasions and sat in all the Range Rovers/Disco/Freelander. So I guess after Defender it could have been size order(?). He has the idea that the Defender is the biggest Land Rover. So maybe it is all about "bigger is better" in his head.

I own a Puma and an Evoque and I always wave even if I happen to be a passenger in a non LR vehicle. My wife says the police will lock me up as a nut case if I keep that up. Ah well; I'll take that risk and keep on waving to that rare breed of connoisseurs; Defender owners.

I think I mentioned a while back how a day trip to Bendethera via Cooma yielded a full arm wave from an elderly looking chap in a series vehicle carting hay…

Saturday just gone, my wife and I drove Agnes down to the snow for a quick gander, and as we went through Cooma I saw the same series vehicle in the main drag, and once again we exchanged a big smile and hearty wave

My wife's reaction has now evolved from a contemptuous eye roll, to a smile and comment of "you know, that really is kind of cool".

I'm still waiting for that 'coming of age'. I suspect a while to go before the eye rolling ceases from my other half.

There is no hope for some

I was at the shops in Big Red, noticed a nice series 3, driver in vehicle, I nodded and smiled, he just looked right through me

Some people shouldn't drive series vehicles

I'll have to look out for you, coming up there in the next 6 months to do some water bores. If you see someone in a silver F350 wave at you (work ute) or maybe an old R model Mack, it's me

How about we agree on a UHF channel to go along with the wave, or is this already out there and I'm missing out!
