Yep - that was me - you were followed by a Pirente about 500m back - he also waved :-)

The demonic defender damsel in Orange drives a black puma with black bar work and black steelies.
She had always snubbed me. She waves now.

Is this the same lady in the black defender who waved at me, but snobbed you when we were both in convoy down in Orange earlier this year?
Maybe her defender wave does not extend to Disco drivers... but you've worn her down to waving with your persistence?

Oh and white 110 puma with ladder or something on the roof and Aulro tyre cover just outside of Hartley, for shame for not waving!

The Defender wave is special. But there are many reasons why a Defender driver may or may not offer, or return, a wave. It's a friendly choice, not a dictatorial edict.

If it's a friendly choice, not returning it is unfriendly and elitist, especially given that I waved first. The other defenders I passed waved

Many would argue that the Defender wave itself is elitist.

True friendship means no expectation of a returned favour, generosity or other act of friendship. The Defender wave is an act of giving, not predicated on receiving IMO.

Perhaps, but just because you drive the same brand car as me doesn't make us true friends. It means I offer you a friendly gesture with a degree of respect not normally offered to those I don't know. As such, it would be polite, and I would argue, a common courtesy to return such a gesture.
My true friends generally get cruder hand signals
The guy in the local H3 hummer that has offroad kit returns my wave, so do the jeep guys.
