I know it's kind of childish, but it makes my day to get a wave back or find someone's parked their Defender next to mine. I always apply parking rules if I can.
You meet some great people with parking rules.

I meet Steve Blick in Seymour that way. We both parked our Mulgos behind Thirfty Link. He's a great guy. It's such a great community.

I've had plenty of waves from defenders over the past month! mostly in and around Ipswich. If I miss waving to you it's because I am trying to navigate stupid city traffic and "shorty" doesn't like the city. haha.

If you see me parked somewhere come say hi, I need some landy friends in Brisbane. I need places to go exploring. (pic for reference)

I've had several waves from Defenders on the Sunshine Coast in the last week, including a yellow shorty at Caloundra, several 110s and a 130. There are a lot of Landys up here. Also got a wave from a D2. Friendly place.

    Sorta parking rules...

Don’t know if the owner is on here (Thanks again!) - exploring Sydney’s beaches still. Got to Palm Beach on New Years Day. Car parking hard to find. A guy walks up to my Defender’s window and says,
“I’ve got the Black Defender in the corner spot. If you can turn back I’ll wait for you before I leave and you can take my spot”.

It was a brief encounter. No names, no pack drill. Just a thoroughly good guy! I did (manage to pull a U turn). He did (wait). Got the spot.

Thanks again if you are on here!

Does anyone know what substructure there is under the panels? Back to chassis or body mounts?
If I ever find a bucketload of money and the mule becomes a pure fun machine, it'd be an exo cage and truck cab conversion. So sexy.
I was told by a very reliable source, external cages are illegal in nsw.
I'm going to fit one to my td5 130 anyway.

4 waves today! Out and about this morning in my Td5 ute, first wave was from a white puma 90 parked in Richmond. Next was a blue with white roof Td5 110 at Bunnings in Mulgrave and a couple of minutes down the road a white puma 110 with black roof. This afternoon out in our shorty puma got a hugh wave from a Perentie passing RAAF Richmond!
    Cheers

Wifey, 2 labs and I recently drove from Sydney to Melbourne, Ferry to Devonport and then onto Hobart via East Coast for Christmas with the fam followed by a return trip via 4 nights in an old hut in the bush in Broomah (The Bush Hut @ Brooman (via Milton) - Houses for Rent in Milton, New South Wales, Australia) - epic! Great trip-all up around 3,000km. Defender didn't miss a beat although we got hot legs from the new Exbox acting like a radiator. I saw a thread on a good fix so will get onto that soon. I didn't get to use the new Traxide headlight/driving light install (and Tim's a great guy/help) either but give it a few months and I'll have heaps of opportunity. I also got a chance to try out the variable wiper mod. Worked a treat.

I was surprised by how few Defers I saw (to the point I considered waving to Disco's!!). About halfway to Melb I saw a nice red 110 towing a Cub Camper, a pretty cool County leaving Melb (young guy with a mate in a Disco 1 ahead-exchanged big waves with the County driver. All up though, Ulladulla seems to be the Defer capital of Aust!

I was staggered by how many Subi Foresters there are in Tas. I should open a Forester shop!

I will eventually get a round to putting some thoughts down on my ultimate tourer. Not so much off road focused but a good, flexible vehicle with good off and on road manners.

A Question How did you stay in Brooman with 2 dogs? The reason I ask is we are spending a long weekend with our girls that live in Melb, and I looked at the link to see if it was suitable, which it isn't if you have dogs apparently.

The dogs were queried by the proprietors in regard to chasing wildlife (they had a wallaby or similar mauled by a dog before) and smelling up the hut which is fair enough. Our dogs had to sleep on the varandah and we paid a bond on cleaning to cover any additional work - the river nearby is awesome and great for the dogs to swim in so Julie (proprietor) was a bit wary of wet dog smell. I think it will be on a case by case basis but worth asking.

If the dogs are kept under control and sleep outside (varandah is pretty secure but on the last morning one of the dogs jumped off, walked around the hut and sat by the front door to be asked in) you might be ok. The proprietors are reasonable people so worth asking the question. At the end of the day they just want the place looked after and respected - fair to say most on this forum would be on the same wavelength.
