If a dealer did this to me I would tell him to stick his bolts and go elsewhere, why couldn't they send an apprentice to the nearest bolt retailer with a sample and just replace the rusty bolts, that is so far past bull**** it's not funny, Regards Frank.
You could have had the bolts turned up out of Titanium and even machine polished for under a $100, mobs like Blackwoods have every bolt ever made by man in stock (well almost), so "special bolts" don't exist when any local machine shop could knock out in 5 mins., your local LR dealer has been yanking your chain, so how many other times have they done it, find a reputable repairer, Regards Frank.
I don't know what the problem is.. they replaced the whole snorkel at no cost.. for whatever reason (perhaps the bolts are attached to the snorkel somehow?).. either or it doesn't matter..![]()
Land Rovers loss comes back to bite us on the arse when they jack up car and parts prices to make up for the idiots that replaced your whole kit and kaboodle instead of just replacing the bolts, same as insurance, more claims means higher policy costs for everyone, how much of the cost of your new Land Rover is taken up to cover warranty claims, a lot if your experience is anything to go by, Regards Frank
you're missing the point frank, the snorkel is made by a supplier to LandRover, and certainly not by the LandRover dealer. if the dealer was to go and source the bolts and just replace the bolts, LR would not pay them for the bolts or their time, as its not LR's fault, its the suppliers fault, and they will just give the snorkel back to supplier and get a new one. the dealer has acted properly. a lot of places would have just said that it was normal wear and tear, and not a warranty item.
So who pays, who pays for the new stuff and bolts and the freight and the labour, WE PAY in higher car and parts prices. Do you think they have feelings for their customers and forked out at least $1k to make you feel good. For ****s sake wake up, there's no such thing as a free lunch, someone has to pay and it certainly isn't LR or the dealer, it's you and me, if you beleive your Warranty is free, at no cost to you, then you are living in Fairyland, Regards Frank.
