The Bicentenial 110 were used in the run up to the 1988 Bi-Centennial as information project around the country. Some used to tow a 5th wheeler educational caravan. Some were cut down in the cab but left the tub. I've not seen one cut down as far as your's but perhaps it was original. You certainly can see the mouting for the 5th wheel coupling.

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

I don't think it is original - the wear pattern on the lower back of the cab is consistent with there being a conventional tub there, rather than some sort of flatbed - and it must have had some sort of structure to carry mudguards, lights etc.

Also, if original, I would have expected it to be finished with the galvanised corner as is fitted on cab/chassis vehicles of the same date.

because it has its own forum for that sort of thing........

I will delete my post to save confusion....

I posted rather than sending a PM (as its really hard on my iphone) as it was late when the edit was done.

I'msure it wouldn't be hard to guess what he was asking considering its rarity

I reckon it is original John. My guess is someone has cut the rear well body off just behind the cab probably to fit a trayback. Also looks like it was originally white like all the ones I have seen and has been repainted blue. The chassis bracket for the turntable and the holes on the rear of the cab on the drivers side where the roll bar/spare tyre carrier was attached are identical to the ones on mine. The build date is the same as mine 12/86. I would be interested to see the VIN as it should be close to mine if it is an original. Should be close to SALLDHMV7BA2#####

I think we are at cross purposes - my post was saying that the lack of a rear tub was not original, not that it was not an original bicentenary model - I think the frame for the fifth wheel says that, without any doubt. I agree with you that it is almost certainly one. Not sure about the colour though, but this should be easy to ascertain by looking at the colour on the interior panels that are normally covered by trim. While, like you, most of the ones I have seen have been white, that does not mean they all were.

Like you I would be interested in the VIN relative to others, because I am pretty sure they were all one order, so should be pretty close numbers, although not necessarily consecutive.

The vin on my one up to that point is identical! it definitely originally had a tub on it that someone cut off, there was a mangled alloy tray on it but the guy i got it off wanted the tray so he kept it. I am definitely going to take it back as close to original, i have a series 2a that i had for parts i am considering finding out the differences between the bed on it and the original defender one and cutting it to length and tig welding it on.
Bearman does yours have alot more electronics than would be in a normal county of that age? like cruise control electric fan controls and other things like that
And sorry about my earlier post with the question! i didn't realize i wasn't allowed to ask it!
