Thread: Buying new Deefer. Advice???

I reckon that the longer you wait for your Defender, the less dicount you are likely to be able to obtain.
As the vehicle you are interested in appears to be standard spec, it would be likely that there would be one in Dealer stock, and I'd think that you'd probably get a better deal on a stock item, that the Dealer can get his dollars for straight away, rather than one he has to order.
As a starting point I'd suggest you get on to the Carsales.com sight & check out the pricing of new vehicles on there,....you'll see some amazing variations!!..but there are some good deals around.

The only other consideration is if you want DSC. That appears to be the only difference between MY14 & MY15.

And that may well be met by one on the boat already.

Depends if you want a 2015 last model with DSC and be happy to pay a premium for it; of you want a 2014 / 15 and save a few $$. But I agree with Pickles, dealer ex-stock will be lots cheaper and you can ping pong the dealers to get a great deal. Esp with white, loads of them ex-stock.

I ordered mine this year, paid deposit then found a 2013 model new about 7k cheaper. Asked the dealer with the cheap one to put in towing, mats, wingtops etc for that price and he agreed (desperate to clear stock).

Then took that offer back to my dealer with the new price i was willing to pay (with the same extras) he had to meet too stop me walking away from my deposit. They agreed so i saved around 5K on the new price for the exact spec i wanted using ex-stock to leverage off.

Call 2, 3 or 4 dealers with white ones ex-stock and start bargaining them down making sure they throw in all your extras.

It's very handy to know there's some room for the dealers to move and saving up to 5k is nothing to sneeze at. I'm sure Vyvyan would agree! I'm surprised they have that much room.

After looking in to DSC (my last thread re. towing and DSC) I will buy one with this feature. So it's a brand new one for me (after I confirm the Aus delivery MY2015's DO have DSC?)

I'm actually overseas for a while so I'll be buying it from here so it's there for my return (and the next lap 'round). Having not had a new one it will be interesting to compare it to my current 1996 model that's waiting at home. Fun!

Close to the end of the month, they may be looking to just make there budget and will be quite accommodating. Not so much during the beginning of the month. I wouldnt think you would pay more then $47k for a new white one with no options. I honestly would look at new 2nd hand. Still has new car warranty which is very important. Some great deals with less then 10k on the clock and some serious accessories added. It's the accessories that make the Defer if you ask me. Stock suspension is crap if you want ride comfort, if not then no big deal. But if your a normal Defender owner, you'll be looking at all the other things like bulbar, roof tray, winch etc.etc and you'll be spending 10-15k without blinking an eye lid.

Just my thoughts anyway.

Yep , can confirm it. I have a MY15 130 on the way with ABS, DSC & ETC. Its an option on the 130 but as far as i know standard on 90's & 110's.
