why not wave..It makes me feel better .People wave at me in my defender so I wave back
So who made the rule up that you must wave a your fellow landie driver ?? I've know about this from the drive of a series 3 ( ex army ) . Did we originally start waving because f@#k good on yah mate you got her out of the work shop ! Or I understand ; your not the only mug around ? Way back all landie owners had beards and wore jungle suits a slouch hat and thick glasses and worked for the government . Remember the really smart ones ar'nt to good on the common sense part of life . Now a hole new group of individuals from all walks of life are driving them ! The dealer is'nt telling them to wave , is he ? Toys and nisans or bitsamissing only very very really do and it is usually a fresh pub P plater yet to lean pull your head in . So I ask how has this gone on from the beginning for landie time ???

Hi guys,
mine is a MY13 limited edition.
25,500 kms in and 3 rear diffs, the latest one already making noises??..booked in at Bruce Davis this Monday for a expert opinion
Just found out that the uni joints might need to be replaced as well?..my local mechanic just mentioned it and i'll be asking the Davis team on Monday.
other than that, all good
Jeez so many sandy vaginas and defender hate in here. Had to double check that this was AULRO and not Pradopoint or 4wdaction where all the rest of the toyota driving dickheads hang out bagging land rovers.
I've had my MY13 for 13months now and not one single problem. It is a weapon off road, I've followed a 4inch lifted patrol on 35's and a twin locked 76series cruiser also on 35's up some ****ed up tracks in my stock defender, I've laid it over on its side, I've nearly drowned it on a couple of occassions, and I am yet to have a complaint about it's build or performance on or offroad. Next addition will be a set of 285 75r16's on the factory alloys (can't wait for everyone to tell me how a defender is meant to have "skinnies" and the 285's are to wide for a 7" rim, and how I will have no end of drama with fatties on a stock driveline, and how my terrafirma wheel spacers are illegal and I'll lose a wheel) Actually looking foward to all the whinging, since it seems everyone loves a good whinge.
If your opinion of your defender is so low, my only advice is to get rid of it and buy a Prado. You will fit in with the rest of the playdo owners and will be able to give each other back slaps and hifives when comparing your sub 10LPH fuel economy and how you can hear yourself fart while sitting on 110km/hr in your dust free cabin.
Meanwhile the rest of us still with defenders will be out driving and enjoying them for what they are - AWESOME - oh, and waving at each other![]()
Hello peoples, i have just got back from the ideal working holiday- 4 months working in Arnhem Land- the last 8 weeks using my 07 TDCi dual cab as the company refuel unit. She left Gympie with 152000 on the clock and now has 170000.
Troubles? Yes we had a few? But Then again, too few to mention.... but i will for this thread
1/- poor fuel clogs the fuel filter regularly and quickly.
2/ Blew an air con hose- probably the single worst thing that can happen at this time of the year in that place. It didnt leak dust until then. leaked a bit after that though.
3/ the feed wire off the circuit breaker came loose cancelling out the lights and a few other things.
4/....and that was it.
Given it was 3756 km up and about the same back which was all highway, it did 10500 km on constant really bad corrugations, washouts and dirt tracks with a 650 litre fuel tank and tools and guff on the back constantly returning an average of 10 km litre over all terrains. Not even a puncture which was excellent considering i had 8 ply Dunlop Road Grippers (Yes the Toyota tyres in 7.50 16's).
In comparison we had fuel troubles'(Everything), 2 blown diffs (2500 km old Navara, 15000 km V8 Cruiser), a set of springs (V8 Cruiser front and rear), a front end (V8 Cruiser), a transfer case (V8 Cruiser), a gearbox (V8 Cruiser), an engine (Yep, a v8) and countless big tough tyres blow on various other makes. There were 3 Cruisers. So i'd say chin up, problems abound in every make, but none of them are as much fun to drive as a Defender..... and the true believers even wave at you to show how happy they are. They have been doing it for the 30 years I've had Landrovers, and i hope it keeps on going. Oh, and when she hit about 160000, it seemed to get a new lease on life and go even better. By the way, I've had the truck since it was 65000 km old and have never had any issues with the diffs. I don't know what it did before that, but they look original. I hope the problems people are having get sorted because the Defender's far too good to be angry at. Cheers
Well written and it nice to hear the majority of LR persons are happy with the product. Yes there are some things on Defender that I think need attention but we all have a choice when purchasing any product!
I enjoy mine and use it as a tug for a caravan 2.5t, it has 50,000 ks and is a 2008. I feel safe and secure, would I do this again, yes if there was an auto option, it would then be used as a daily drive then, however I did say we all have a choice!
