Pins would definitely make it simpler.
This looks good, but you'd have to be careful about the shear loading on the pin:

It's much cleaner than this design where they arm that might hit things:

Good luck lining the hole up....... the vehicle would have to be on a dead flat surface.

I know how hard it is to get the pin back in the bush with mine.

That is the main concern, getting the angle right so it doesnt hit anything as you articulate.....

That, and the bar is weaker by drilling a hole through it. If you fitted a 10mm bolt or pin you have almost halved its cross section. The Jimny bar is a stronger design.

yeh not keen on that 2nd design, i was thinking 2 discs and 2 pins trying to keep it all small as possible and a pin on either side of the bar for strength.

For me lining them up is easy, i just jack the air spring up or down as needed

For the rear i want to have a look at mounting the sway bar above the chassis rails infront of the diff using a similar idea to the x deflex or curry anti rock kits, but need to have a good look to see if it is possible clearance wise.
Isn't there a ram operated one for jeeps?

The Jeep Rubicon has an electric disconnect. About $US1650 when purchased as a spare part:
