    Picking up new D90

I've just been notified by Land Rover dealer that my new D90 has arrived and should be ready to be picked up in about a week.

I recall reading here others vehicles having minor things overlook in the pre delivery inspection before hand over ie swarf not cleaned out under mats, certain fluids not topped up etc.

I'd like to send the dealer a courtesy email of things to double check before handover.

If people could give me some common things they noticed had been overlooked when they picked up their vehicles it would be appreciated.

    Thanks everyone

Hi mate and congratulations on the new 90.

I recently took delivery of a 110 and was taken by surprise by a few overlooked things. to name a few missing accessories, very low diff and transfer case oil levels and rust oh the rust. Plus check the seam where the front sloped part of the roof meets the horizontal flat section.

I hope your delivery runs smoothly and most of all enjoy the adventure! Iove my Defender and hope to have everything sorted soon.

    Cheers,
    Ant

Yeah I was dubious about vehicle pre delivery inspections myself hence wanting specifics to have them inspect!

    Congratulations on the purchase.

We got both of ours from Southerns and the only thing they overlooked on mine was the plastic wrap on the subwoofer otherwise from a pre-delivery point of view we were pretty happy with it. Unless its a put your hand in your pocket issue I'd say just go through it yourself and clean out anything your not happy with such as swarf.

Rather than sending an email I'd give it a bit of a check before you drive it away if your worried, they may not take being told how to do their job before they've had a chance to screw it up too well.

Point taken loneranger. I was just going to list common overlooked issues by dealers in general and not point any fingers and just ask for a quick double check before picking it up. I am tempted to ask to look over it before delivery date when it's picked up and money is transfered. I don't want to hear "oh we'll fix that on its first service" rubbish because as far as I'm concerned that's not good enough when your forking out over $50,000

Don't worry, you will have to take it back many times as issues arise

When I got my 90 within the 1st week the aircon started blowing hot air. Turns out a hose had come loose and all the gas leaked out. They fixed it up good as new.

Actually I signed for my 90 when we had put loneranger's in for an aircon warranty repair (different issue).

Have become well acquainted with all the staff at the dealership. We talk to the mechanic a lot, ask lots of questions, get lots of advice.

Best to establish a good rapport with them as you will see them often from the start - it will be a long relationship

Generally now when we walk in and ask one of the service staff a question they normally answer by saying they'll get the mechanic.
