    I think your info is right Babs, as a previous Deafener I had was fitted with a Hayman Reece tow bar for just that reason. The LR product has angled side arms attaching to the chassis and the Loneranger won't go between them. Jester reckons his fitted OK so maybe there's a difference there somewhere with what his vehicle is set up with.

    Mine had a Long Ranger replacement tank fitted when I bought it, I think its either 110 litres or 120, gives a range of at least 1000 kms. I have a Hayman Reece towbar and the tank doesn't seem to cause any problems with the anti-roll bar, nor does it hang low enough to bang. I like the idea that one day I can still add the 40 litre tank to gravity feed between the filler and the main tank. Keep it simple. Much more convenient than mucking around with fuel cans.

    Yes I plan to get a Long Ranger tank when have the cash, which is why I fitted a HR towbar. Bummer if you already have a Land Rover towbar. Should be easy to sell though?

    I have the LRA as well on my TD5 2000 defender. I get 1050kms a tank every time, around town or freeway there's still at least 10L left in it when I fill up and I almost never see the fuel light come on. I can't fault it - or at least couldn't until I now have to install a new fuel pump in the next week... but thats really Land Rovers fault now isn't it...

    So - without any planning for a fuel tank I fitted a HR towbar on the new 110

    I will look at a Long Ranger Tank next year......

    I bought the girl second (well maybe 4th hand) and to my knowledge the towbar is standard as the owners have all been obsessive compulsive (I have the receipts from the very first 1K service right though until I bought her). There was some "moulding" to get the long ranger in, but it went in without any issue and I have now had it in for over 4 months and been on sand, telegraph tracks and a bit of fun in the mud and noticed no issues while driving or afterwards while under her with the karcher to get all that crap out of the millions of holes that Land Rover insist on putting in their undercarriage. I know there is a reason for every last one of them but after crawling through mud that dragged along the rock sliders and walking up a 24 - 27 degree slope full of red dirt and holes big enough to bury the mother in law in they are a real pain in the arse to get clean

    More recent news...

    I had a chat with LRA this morning. Apparently they redesigned the replacement main tank 2 years ago and it is now compatible with the sway bar - no need to remove it.

    I also asked if it was compatible with the HR Class 4 tow bar and they said they were not aware of any issues.

    Also... looking at the photo, the rear of the tank is now angled at each corner. Perhaps the stock tow bar now fits with it as well ? Worth a follow up for those interested.

    I have both the LH and RH LRA sill tanks, it gives me lots of fuel capacity, no issues when off foad.
    They were a bugger to fit by your self without a hoist, and there were no real instructions on how to connect the piping.
    I ended up needing to put an additional vent pipe for when the tank transfer pump is running as it took for ever to empty the tank into the main tank.
    I used a Mulgo Y filler for the RH tank and used the LRA filler for the LH tank.
    All in all much better than carrying gerry cans as all i need to do is flick a switch in the cabin.

    G'Day Gents,

    The first things I went for after the roo bar, spotties, snorkle, HR tow hitch, cruise control (once you have it, you don't get speeding tickets.... and it's great on a long runs, even though I will choose to drive as well), electric trailer brake unit.... to go on my 90.

    Was 2 belly tanks. I got them from Mulgro. He had them knocked up here in Oz, and they were cheaper than the SA prices e had advertised. Bolted straight in. I used his Y filler, and a second Y, so I can fill all three tanks from the filler. I have 150L of fuel before the light comes on. That's over 1500Km of normal running. OEM switches with fuel bousers to control the transfers. Got to have a bit of class.
    Great for balancing the load. Simply empty the heavy side first.

    I did the power line track a couple of months ago. They didn't touch, but I thought they had a couple of times. I thought there was going to be tears when I got out and looked, but not a mark on them. So my solution is to lift it a little. Which I wanted to do anyway. The bottom of the tanks are level with the bottom of the chassis.

    I believe they are more than worth the money. Beats trying to put 5 Jerry cans in the back to get the same range.... Then having to pour them in at 2 in the morning..... Oh what fun that is....
    And you get better stability on angles when full.

    If you pester Mulgro, he will get them made for you.
