Soo annoying when they do that.
Speaking of weirdo's someone today says Defender when I got out, then he said NEW!! Yes I said, then he said Its a Defender! Yes I said. Then he said New!!, Err yes I said, Then Defender!! Err Yes, starting to think this is going to go on all day, so I said yes New Defender and retreated into the car to escape the strange person.

Within a fortnight of leaving the show room with by brand new Defender (this was back in 2011) I pulled into the garage to fuel up. When I went to pay the guy behind the counter said "I love those old land rovers - looks like you've done a great job restoring it". I handed him my fuel card. He swiped the card and said "what is the ODO reading?" to which I replied with a smile "730km"

Driving home to Kuala Lumpur after some business meetings in Singapore I was doing the 110kmh speed limit on the highway.

Police escorts were forcing road users to the left lane ahead of the Johor state crown prince's convoy of his favourite exotic vehicles. (He was apparently heading interstate to watch the Johor state football team play)

Amongst the police escorts, minders and such were lots of nice exoticars including a G64 AMG 6x6.

I pulled in after the last police bike and hitched a ride on their draft. A Merc SUV followed behind me...

Stopping for fuel about 45min later the SUV stopped on the other side of the pump. Driver casually says "Didn't know those Defenders were capable of 170+ "
(Wasn't more than 160 I swear - speed limited at that)

Cafe, another compelling reason for the 170 BAS tune, to confuse Toyota bogans
By all means get a Defender. If you get a good one, you'll be happy. If you get a bad one, you'll become a philosopher.

Had a Pootrol park next to me at Bunning a while back - I was in the 101. His was jacked up running 35's. To his credit, he parked next to me deliberately to shoot the breeze about the 101 and he was a nice chap, but when he said 'you're running 35's too' my reply was 'yep, but mine came as standard fittment'

We had a laugh and moved on.
If you need to contact me please email homestarrunnerau@gmail.com - thanks - Gav.

That, and other things like EGR functionality along with one of the causes of a clunky driving experience - magically melts away when you load a custom tune into the ECU of a TDCi.
