Ashcroft ATBs AND Eaton truetrac are pretty similarly engineered (helical gears in pockets). Torsens are engineered differently. But they all behave similarly.

Absolutely! - had the driver in that video had a little brake applied the vehicle would have walked through those crossaxle situations easily.

I routinely use right foot braking and let antistall drive the throttle on easy stuff like that, and medium hard situations. On seriously harder stuff where a bit more aggression is needed (ie even fully locked diffs won’t let you idle up) I left foot brake and right foot feeds in just enough fuel to keep things moving. (TC just makes it so much easier and more effective - but I do not have TC on my barge).

Wired up a reversing camera today. Was on the cards for the near future, but they were 25% off at SCA and not much more then an equivalent ebay one (without the postage wait from China etc), so i figured why not?

It's one of those clip-on the rearview mirror units, and now, the mirror has a habit of slowly sagging whenever it can (especially in warmer weather). Time to brainstorm a solution.

I had the same problem with the sagging mirror.
Answer was to pop the ball of the mirror arm out of its mount, cut a piece of thin strong material such as leather or a chamois, wrap it around the ball and push it back into place.
Now it only droops on badly corrugated roads.

Excellent! I will have to try that. Thanks for the tip.

Any mods reading this, I just realised that there are a bunch of duplicate photos in my previous post and my edit option isn't available. Might need to clean them up to save everyone from the eyesore haha.

Removed the indicator lights from my ARB bullbar to find the replacements have a square plastic plug not round like the mounts on the bar. Off to ARB, yep they sell replacements for nearly half i paid on line and the ARB version include the round plastic plug. With a moment of reflection standing in the ARB store. Do i pay $40 for ARB lights (having forked out $70 for LED lights) and be done with it or off to Bunnings to mock up something to make use of the LED's. Opted for the later and now will start butchering the new lights to make it mount to the ARB bar.

This is, hopefully, the final step to get the Defender back on the road after a long and painful 18 months to get the defender back and rectify everything that was butchered. Off to get blue slip tomorrow.

The easiest thing was the engineering. Engineer signed off on every mod i have. Didn't blink at 35's and 3" lift. It is approved for 120mm over standard. The mod certificate reads like a parts catalogue. It will be laminated and put in the pouch behind my seat just in case i have to explain myself to the boys in blue.

I'm pretty sure Narva make a direct replacement for an ARB bar (can also bolt them up to a TJM bar but there is a gap around the light, no biggie)

I have been installing a dual battery setup for the last few nights, waiting for bits to arrive has slowed the process. A real tight fit! But will get it all in there hopefully.

Thats a Narva light in a TJM bar, it's the light meant for an ARB bar. Can also get the indicator and parker LED. And that is what I was meaning in my previous post.
