The paint work will generally last a lot longer if it's cleaned regularly, especially if it's clear over metallic base or lives outside.

A familiar situation for many of us I reckon.
We've had a few nice cars, most of them MUCH faster & more expensive than our Defender, but none of them has attracted the comment/attraction that Gracie (our 90) has.
Don't know why this is,...it usually starts when someone else is filling up, ya see them looking at your Defender, & then they come over to talk,...amazing.
A few have said words along the lines of "ya've done a good job restoring that" because they think she's old,..when I tell 'em that she was built in 2013 they are quite surprised!!
But it's all been good, I've had some great discussions, with people I've never met before.
    Pickles.
Don't get me wrong! 99% of people who talk to me about my 90 are really interested and positive. The best I've had was a 70 plus man of Chinese descent drive past me scoping out my truck with a look of lust and as he drove past gave me the dolmio grin/chef perfecto twirl of the whiskers. I couldn't help but burst out laughing.

The other day I was in Autobarn and the bloke goes, "Defender? I love Defenders." Does he say that to Toyota owners? I don't know. Then I was buying diesel and the old bloke on the counter says his first vehicle was a series and he wished he still had it.

Ordered new tyers. I put a 70mm rip in the sidewall of one in the forrest yesterday, playing silly buggers in the mud pools. The things I do for the Kids.
Anyway, they've got 54,000 ks on them so it's just about time.
    Cheers, Billy.

    Nakatajima LED third brake light

I'm going stir crazy being house bound, so I grabbed my very uninspiring walker, wheeled myself out to the garage and fitted my new Nakatanawhatever LED third brake light, purchased from Mud Stuff (great UK company to deal with).
It's funny how two little rows of LED goodlyness can improve your mood no end.
It's all I could do as the knees are killing me, but I've got my mod fix for the week.
    Best wishes all.

    LED joy

Today, I fitted my new Britpart LED side wing indicators. Three globes vs one, and so much brighter than stock.
I also fitted the Britec LED number plate light. Not working, bugger, but my knees were too crook to allow me to fault find. I probably just crimped badly as I wasn't using my good quality gear, and I wanted to get off my legs.
That's all my vehicles external lighting changed to LED and while many probably see it as a waste of cash, the lighting is so much more effective, and less draw on the electrical system which is a good thing. Obviously, so much more shock proof than incandescent globes, which are so 1930s!
My Alisport aluminium expansion tank has arrived and it's a beautiful piece of gear.
I'll fit it next week hopefully, once I have a mate here to help me. Hopefully my Mud Stuff mirrors will be here by then as well.
    Merry Christmas all.

Serious question - have your added options cost more than purchase price?
I love a lot of what you have done - but every time I read this thread
I see you have bolted on more options I didn't even know
    Existed!!!!!

I know on the old ranga/ D1 / deefers the coolant header tank was susceptible to death
But was only aware of the tdci coolant cap leaking phenomena

    Is the tank in jeopardy?
