Dodgy Fuel.
That is the question, and how badly it can ruin your day.
I was towing a barge full of Bilge water from USS Kitty Hawk into Port Kembla a few years ago. We had just been given permission to enter, about two Miles off, when one of the engines (GM 671s)stopped. The other soon began to run like a hairy goat. We headed out to Sea to put as much distance as possible between us and the hard pointy stuff that is contemptuous of Vessels and went to the Engine Room.
The Boss, in his wisdom, had fitted Filters such as Mitch has depicted, although they were ahead of the Primary or original Filters. We were immediately able to see the problem, empty and clean the Bowls and change the primary filters. Day saved.
The problem was Bacteria in the fuel which had formed a sludge that had settled in the bottom of the Bunkers and then churned up by the motion of the 2-3 meter Seas.. It had come to us via a 20 Ton load which we had put in our Fuel Barge, and subsequently Fuelled other Tugs Crain Barged and so on.
We called the Boss as soon as we were under way again and all those Vessels and Assets had their tanks drained and cleaned before any more dire situations could occur. The cost was enormous but it could have been a lot lot worse.
That event was rare, but the Fuel was purchased directly from a Major Oil Company which by the way bore the cost. The point is you just never know. That Filter is $500 odds worth of peace of mind.

I've never had water in my fuel or contaminated fuel ever,personally I think it's an excuse from dealers/repairers to fob the cost of repairs to insurance. Pat

As above, today I fitted the new Puma Provent 200 kit from Azguard Engineering.
The bracket is great, and apart from one section of hose missing, fitting was a doddle.

Got Redarc dual battery voltage gauge installed today. Looks amazing but let's off a series of beeps every time I start the 90. Anyone have one and know how to get rid of it? Nothing in the manual

Can't be turned off to my knowledge. It's a test sequence and the initial energising of the Alternator.

yeah didnt think so. quite annoying as one of the things i love is the beep free interior i had. oh well.

I wouldn't pay 0.45 gorillas for a second filter with no primer but my 2.4 that lacks a priming pump has loved the Parker/racor priming and water sep filter I've put inline before the OEM

Water in dieso and bugs in dieso is common up here - leave 50L of dieso in a closed airtight drum and it will be sludge in 3 months.

Parker/Racor P4 unit is a nice addition to the 130
Have installed water in fuel and primer switch at dash to the right

Another option over the dieselcare option
