I am looking to purchase my dream car (defender) but am feeling like the 2.2 will be lacking, so I am seriously comsidering buying a clapped out defender for cheap and replacing the engine to a 3.2.
Anymore information on long term testing for the conversion for axles/diffs and drivetrain? does it wear the 2.2/2.4 drivetrain and axles out fast or is it safe to swap in.
thanks in advance

Reach out to Glenn (Grinna) (see earlier posts) what's involved. Budget 35k. i suspect he will recommend the TDV6 over the TDCi3.2. The only 3.2 conversion i know runs 35 spline rear end (not because of the conversion) and i believe upgraded front internals. It is tuned to 600nm at the rear wheels and causes the MT82 clutch to slip when towing on steep/long hills. I'd be more inclined to fit a BMW M57TU2 with ZF 6sp auto. superior to the TDV6 and 3.2 in spades. With a modest tune will give you +600NM at the wheels.
