Well Derek I know this isn't a race.....but my Safari Snorkel, OL wheel carrier and the OL 45l Auxiliary tank were fitted today...(yes I know that it didn't happen without photos but the camera batteries were flat and I will make amends in the clear light of day, editing this post).
An interesting story with each.
Snorkel: The local OL guy looked at the newly released 07+ Safari kit and decided that his Safari Td5 Snorkel with a special hose (as prototyped on Xaviers now Tolinja's Fender) between the guard and the filter box was the betterway to go due to the amount of silastic gunk required in the existing set up to provide a seal.
Wheel Carrier: the modified OL carrier has a gusset as standard now to overcome the fatigue issue experienced by scallops.
Tank: The new dreaded breather location caused some consternation: "why did they put it there? that's worse than before!"
With the installation he relocated it higher and above the new tank ie higher up in the driver's side guard.
I installed the Icom CB last weekend...nice bit of kit.

Pic's of Safari snorkel would be good, I'll post up the Mantec when I get time to install it.

Yeah the snorkel story was very interesting...the photos will be revealing given the twists and turns and constrictions in the existing setup...new age silastic will fix all ills...reminds me of some roof plumbers' approach to flashing...a shed full of sealant cartridges and a gun![]()

When I bought my Defender in 1999 I had no money left and couldnt even afford a tow bar for months. Now it has an ARB bar, IPF lights, a Kaymar tyre carrier and a cargo barrier. I am thinking of a roof console and drawers, maybe a mud console.
Jeff
Here she is with Snorkel and UHF aerial installed:
This is basically a Td5 Safari snorkel. Instead of connecting to the existing plumbing at the guard and sealing at several places the existing plumbing is replaced with a length of flexible duct connected to and sealed at the guard and the filter box. The installation was done for me by OL South Sydney so I don't know the gory details of the installation.

Interesting how Safari see the need to replace the inner plumbing. All I was going to do was make sure of the seals on the tubing from the guard to the air filter.
Also check the air filter box, there's an open drain in the base which I think should really have a duck's bill on it so nothing can flow up into the air box.

Hi Derek,
Gordon at OL had a look at the installation instructions for the 07+ Safari snorkel (which retains the existing ductwork) and decided that his adaptation of the Td5 kit required less silastic and therefore less risk of failure hence the plumbing replacement. I've had a good look at it this arvo taking off the dummy panel on the driver's side guard and I tend to agree with him.
The valve on the bottom of the box has been blocked off in my installation. This is discretionary according to Safari.
