    SVX Owners

Hello to any SVX owners out there!

I have a specific question relating to your purchase.

On the Land Rover website it mentions an SVX Key Ring is included in the purchase.

I just want to know did you receive one with your purchase? My dealer has tried getting me one but says "he has had no luck".

Also, how are you enjoying yours? Had mine 2 weeks and absolutley love the thing. Will let you know what extras have gone on so far if interested as I would be interested if you have done something also.

    Cheers,

Yes I got a key ring with the car, also LR sent a book showing the history of Land Rover and a stainless steel LR lugage tag. Had some problems with mine (vibration) but still love it. On the road it stops traffic, I dont think some people recognize it as a LR.

    SVX LOVE

I got mine december 08 and i got the the lot at time of purchase, but my garmin cradle only just got installed from back order. as far as enjoying the car, it is awsome, a few people mistake it for a hummer but it only gets looks when its sparkling. for example, when i drove it to my mums place for the first time she thought i had painted my 1984 series III black. i then opened the drivers door and she just went ooooh!
as for mechanical reliability, it goes great, the only major incident was broken front halfshaft which stranded us in the bush at mittagong this was during one of their complimentary 4wd training days . my dealer (purnell motors) was thoroughly efficient, they sent mechanics on site to free up the wheel then got it to a road which was accessible by tow truck. fixed it in a few days and that was only 3 days ago so i am yet to test off road but it sounds ok so far.
    other
other warranty jobs like rear window heater connection, faulty ignition barrel, were fixed without argument

Thanks Mickygee. I hate that too - had about 8 people say "is it a Hummer?" I pushed the dealer to install the proper Garmin mount as they had not installed the temporary one and the dealer wasn't even aware of the proper mount until I informed him.

No real bugs so far but just started to get a bit of a squeak in the clutch but you have to expect some small problems to be ironed out with any car.

    Cheers,

    Thanks Allan.

I will have to push the dealer a little harder to find the key ring. I did receive the history book as you mentioned. But no luggage tag either which would have been nice as I travel a fair bit. But I do really want the key ring.

    Cheers,

It is a smart keyring. We did use it for quite a while. I was a bit of a tosser, always putting my keys down where people could see them. Just so I could then go show off the new car.
Have since taken it off the keys though as it is heavy and apparently that can eventually damage the ignition assembly. Also bulky in pocket.

I hate the Hummer comments, have had a few. Also a few asking me how my Tata is going.
Off for first service on Tuesday, $360. OUCH.
Has been fantastic until a few days ago when a weird noise has started when coasting in neutral, generally in heavy traffic. Does not sound at all good. Worst thing is, it is only intermitent, so can be assured it won't happen when Land Rover have a look.

Have kept it in brand new condition until 2 weeks ago when the track we were on started growing over and I was too far in to back out. Scratched the hell out of it on both sides. But far more relaxed with it now that the first scratch (s) are taken care of.

Have taken the back seats out. Surprised by the weight of them. Lovely to have all that space in the back.
Bought a Hitch safe. Fits in the towbar reciever, has a combination lock and is a treat for storing keys when at the beach.

    Loving the SVX

Nigel, I wouldn't get hung up on the luggage tag, its very good, but as its metal some officious airport security type may well want it removed. You should get it from LR a few weeks after got the car. It came with a DVD.

Have you got the SatNav properly mounted? I'd be interested in pics etc as whilst I don't have an SVX I do have the Puma and a Garmin Nuvi 760.

    Hi Derek,

I do have the proper Garmin mount installed. I must say it is very solid and look really neat too!

I saw the interim one on other cars and it wasn't ideal with the power going into the 12volt plug and the cord hanging down the front too.

I'll take some pics tomorrow for you and will try posting them up on this thread. Haven't done this before but I'll have a go!

    Cheers,

    Nigel

What proper Garmin mount are you talking about. Mine just has the "rubber suction type" that constantly falls off!

Please show picture if possible so I can chase up my dealer.

    Regards

Can I take that to mean that your power cord goes behind the dash and doesn't come back to the front 12V Accessory socket

If so I think I need to find out more about that wiring harness
