I've been taping a few of these....watched the first one last night. Off the bat......leaves a show like TG Aust for dead. I really enjoyed it. As for sponsorship.....saying my Nissan this...my Nissan that..................c'mon most of us would give a right nut to be doing what he is doing and going...my landy this....my defender that......just have to pop something in the Disco........etc etc
On the sponsorship front....I think it is great that a 4WD show and products is getting mainstream attention....looking forward to the next one I have taped,
Regards
Stevo

And that's not the only one. He also had that Toyota that he built up. Along with the Kias, Nissans etc etc, I'd say he is in a position to pass comment. More so than a lot of others.
And if Pat Callinan knocked on any one of our doors to do a segment for his show...can't see anyone here worrying too much about product placement"How many times did you want me to mention the ARB fridge Pat?...OK, sweet.."
Or, to take a leaf out of Roothy's script on one of the Tassie dvd's..."Geez this Boags beer is good stuff..now, just lift the centre pole...mmmm time for another Boags...now we tie off the guy ropes...did I tell you how good this Boags beer is...? "![]()

I think too many people are reading too much into the whole thing.I believe the show is just made as light family entertainment, along with showing off some of the country that isn't readily accessible to the masses. And along those lines,I think it does a good job.It isn't meant as a hardcore 4wd show, where we need to be showing how tough our vehicles are,and how we need to spend hour upon hour winching and recovering the vehicle just to get to some of these places. That would severely limit the audience.
Who really cares if the show plugs Nissans, the Leylands used Landies for years, then sold out to the corporate dollar and used jeeps, volkswagons and Fords.Malcolm Douglas for many years extolled the virtues of his Landy, but he sold out to Toyota, because that is where the money was.And after all, besides making documentaries for the love of it,it is after all a business.
I enjoy any show that shows our country away from the concrete jungles and shows 4wds in general.I am not that one eyed, that I can't appreciate other brands of 4wd,and the advertising that goes along with them.I have owned a few of the other 3 big manufacturers 4wds,but I still have a Landy. But hey.......that is MY choice

Watching his show does inspire to jump into my Land Rover Defender, settle into the supportive Recaro seats, protected by the Michelle Sacs durable and good looking seat covers, and get rolling on my BFG comfortable and capable in all conditions (bitumen, mud, rock, sand or bulldust) tyres. Start the engine, made so much better with the safari turbo system, 3" mandrel bent stainless steel Beaudesert custom exhaust and Westend diesel gas injection conrolled by Morepower performance chip to give superb power and economy and no worries with overheating with PWR supercool radiator. Yes, looking at my stylish and rugged super acurate Omega watch, its time to jump and feel the Kings springs and Koni shocks working together in perfect harmony for perfect and safe control in all condtions, turn on the Hema navigator with all the on road and off road mapping I will ever need to not get lost and head off to adventure.
