couple of shots taken at Australia Zoo during the bird show
...feeders work so well! This one (and many others) were taken today after my dog found it injured in my back yard. It was very timid, it allowed me to pick it up and walked on my hands arms like a pet! At any rate, I thought the little guy was calm so I took advantage of it and grabbed some 'controlled' photos. Now I see why the pros can get these kind of shots, and I was only mucking around - as in didnt want to stress it unecessarily so I didnt set up the background, just perched on a branch.
Must say the 28-80mm kit lens still does a great job even tho its been bashed around somewhat.
Notice sun reflection but also flash reflection as I used flash fill to bring out the micro details.

Carlos, this is a fantastic find and image.
It have a broken of it born with the beak like this.
Give it shelter for the weekend in a box and feed him with cereal and a tiny bit of honey.
Call the local wild life care and find out what you can do with him
To keep these birds you need a license so it is better to give him a new chance.
Pale-headed Rosella
Scientific name: Platycercus adscitus

Order: Psittaciformes
