    New toy....

Got myself an early christmas present.. Panasonic LX3. Being playing with it over the last week and I can see what the hype is all about - it is a superb piece of kit. Having owned only SLRs for the past 10 years, this is going to change the way I take photos.
Also have started to use Lightroom instead of PS to speed up my workflow as well. Anyway, my first "proper" LR + LX3 pic...

If the speed of light = 299,792,458 m/s, what is the speed of dark?

That's a lovely photo. We got our LX3 in May and absolutely love it. If your the sort of person that wants to impress your friends with "my new camera has a 50 bazillion times zoom" then the LX3 is not for you. However it you want to take **really** good photos with a compact in all manner of low light conditions then it is unprecedented. It's capabilities are lost on people who buy Cannon Ixus.

Since getting the LX3 our Nikon D80 has had a very very relaxed life. So far it's 500 shots to the nikon, 1500 to the LX3

Panasonic have just introduced a camera that is between the LX3 and an slr. Read about it here - GF1 review.. I'm very interested to find out more about this camera although I'm not sure it would be for us. However if you wanted 1 camera to be your SLR and compact...

    I couldn't agree more. It's a great camera.
I'm in the process of selling all my Minolta gear at the moment and intend moving to Nikon early next year - leaning towards the D300s. Minolta was great, but IMO, Sony have really lost the plot with their SLR cameras. A pity really, because the Minolta 7D and the early ('80s) AF Minolta lens are superb and I had become quite attatched to them. .

Nice and sharp Matt. Was the course on-line or an attended one?
