I Dont even think I could leave the bedding in it as its so hard to pack up, hoping it might loosen up over time. Thinking of pulling off the cover already and getting another one made with a little more height. Not really sure that I liked the ''tek'' screws used within the build especially with out any sealant or retaining compound and alloy slides on alloy slides soon turn into very hard slides as ARB found with it tents and changed it ASAP. Matress is overrated for the price and the tent doesn't even have a floor I think as I havn't unpacked all the pieces, couldn't really work out why there should be all these bags of components for a roof top tent? The box it come in was pretty good, maybe I should use it instead? OVERALL 4/10.
Am sorry to hear of your disappointing purchase...I have a rooftop on order though only paid a small deposit at this stage... am hoping it's not from same supplier as the one you finally received..can you pm me pls from where you bought it?
    cheers and thanks

EDIT: sorry mate, re-read your posts and got my answer. actually looked at their product a couple of months ago..and said no thanks... have gone the Hervey Bay supplier .. I hope it works out OK for you.

Hoges, please let us know how your tent goes as I'm waiting for the tax cheque to come back before ordering a tent from the mob in Hervey Bay

Eezi awn tent has arrived but will stay in the box until I have the track trailer ready for the tent to bolt on.

Also picked up the Hannibal awning today and was very impressed with the Australian distributor Peter and the awning itself - great product.

Tent from Hervey Bay arrived last Friday. thankfully the 'big fella' aka Son was visiting and so positioning it on the roof rack was a tad easier (65kg).

The communication and arrangements from the lady (Tanya) at Austrack were simply 'first class'. Indeed gave me a lot of confidence to put morre business their way.

The tent is very well made goes up easily. It has a totally enclosed awning so you can climb the ladder out of the rain...

It takes a little bit of nouse to work out the instructions but we had it on the roof rack and tightened down within about 30 mins. I did NOT cut the mounting tracks as suggested in the instructions...well not for the moment. SWMBO is most impressed at the final result!

    will keep you posted

BTW: AWNING -DIY brand: I have also made a 2minute 8' x6' self supporting awning which cantilevers off the roof rack (no ropes/pegs needed except in very windy weather) using a length of slotted angle from bunnings, an 8x6 tarp and three extendable 25mm poles from BCF...total price <$100. pics coming...

I bought a couple of awnings from ARB and mounted them on each side of my trailer as I have shelved the star awning from KK as it's a waste of space, effort and nothing I really wanted to start with but you can not tell a salesman from KK what you need. Really happy with the awnings, seem to work well, no rocket science needed.

My 2 metre tent is still a long way off arriving, so today I had a 1.8m tent fitted. Very happy with it. Only thing is, todays Monday, it's a long wait to the weekend to use it.

    Gleetings!! Austrack update

left Brisvegas 14th August and are about 150km sth Weipa as I send this c/- Telstra magic stick ...lots of magic sticks in this part of the world.

The AUSTRACK camper roof top tent has done sterling service...as yet we have not zipped in the heavy duty PVC floor...just zipped/pegged the annex. Elected to mount tent so it opened over the rear of the trailer ( Navara tub /ARB canopy, H/D rhino roof rack on canopy, tent on rhino rack.

Tent annexe is a bit "long" for the (shorter) height of the trailer roof. Standard ladder holes meant the ladder was splayed out too far. Cordless 12 V drill and 2 new holes in ladder to shorten its reach fixed that the first night on the road.(inner city living space meant couldn't test tent prior to leaving...

Verdict: Excellent product...haven't tested it in rain yet, but very stable in the wind. We put 4 of those fit together camping store mat squares under the mattress to allow air circulation...no condensation...(comp wth KK $$$$$option for battery and heat blanket). Very comfortable.

The (included) annex is wide and deep enough to wash/shower in privacy.

The S/S spring struts for the window shades are great and allow excellent airflow in humid tropical conditions.

At Lake Awoonga Sth Gladstone it got chilly and very heavy dew as the breeze came in right off the water... tent was quite comfortable and the fly did xcllnt job keeping it dry.

In the past 3 days we have just completed 800km of some of the worst road conditions I have experienced ...ever. Locals tell me that the Peninsular Dev Rd was OK a couple of months ago but has deteriorated significantly in the past 2-3 weeks.

The corrugations are so deep some poor sods lose their way at the bottom and get lost, others are sending bookings to dentists via their Satphone for treatment for chipped teeth... I have even developed a sympathy for Bob Katter's frustration as to how the "bush" is neglected despite their paying same rego as surburbanites... enough, enough! ))

Being on the trailer roof behind the P38 the tent took a real dose slip stream dust...the stuff is like talcum powder ...No dust got into the tent...

can't say the same for the trailer even though I thought I had sealed it and even tried a positive pressure bilge blower contraption to keep dust out... was caked inside...

will post pics when I get time/more generous broadband.

Verdict. very happy with product so far...

Won't even try compete with hoges' post. Sitting lake Coptharaba with new roof top tent. Absolute pleasure to put up, did complete campsite in under 20 minutes. And that was with two young daughters really not being very good helpers. Love the improved view and breeze you get with tent up high. All this new gear and new iPhone to check aulro in the bush. I'm so excited I think I'll go have a beer.

Tax cheque has come back and I've followed 'Hoges" down the path of an Austrack roof tent and awning combo (bloody good price too). Tanya who processed the order was extremely helpful. I placed the order Thursday morning and had confirmation that it had been picked up by transport company for delivery Thursday afternoon

Only problem is the transport company has misplaced the tent between Maryborough and Brisbane ( probably why we gave that company the flick at work ).

I'm so anxious to use the tent it's not funny
