how to change jets on gas camp stove?

I've never done this before. Can anyone tell me how to change jets on a standard two burner jackaroo gas stove? I don't have a clue where to start.

    thanks

depending on the configuration it could go hard or easy

the jet is a small brass plug with a very small hole in it.

Changing it (and this is based on doing some BBQ's) is just a case of getting the burner off of the pipe that feeds the gas to the burner and in the end of that pipe is the jet. Unscrew and put the new one in.

Its usually visable through the holes that are in the base of the burner where the high speed gas "jet" venturies the air in to obtain the right fuel/air mix for burning.

thanks Dave, fantastic advice yet again.

Never done this before. Very quick and easy to change when you know how.

    1. Unscrew the burner from under the stove.
    2. Pull the burner out with 15mm tube going back to the inside of the flame controller. And there it was on the inner side of the stove, on the back of the flame controller.
    3. Simply unscrew the jet and replace.

    All set, nearly.

most problems with jets is a build up of stuff (there is probably a name) that is in the LPG. sometimes you can get away with throwing the jet into boiling water

in saying that jets are pretty cheap

on one of the flats of the jet there will be a number, make sure you get the same jet

Can't drill the buggers out either. Every one I have ever come across has a hole smaller than a No.80 drill.

they are usually drilled out with a diamond tipped wire drill, like the ones used to clean out diesel injectors.

Some jets also have a fine mesh filter built into them that clogs up.

    Flame-out issue

I have a two burner stove that would have to be 20+ years old, was my fathers. Very well looked after, excellent condition. It is the typical Coleman/Jackeroo style. In February it finally started to faulter. The flame would be hard to regulate. I would have the nice blue flame out of the burners but then a weird noise would start and a large yellow flame would come up the side of the billy. She would then generally extinguish itself without warning.

Is this a regulator issue...there isn't one fitted at the moment. The hose goes straight from the gas bottle into the stove. I don't want to necessarily go replacing various parts to trouble shot when one can buy a newie for $70 (granted I don't know how much the parts are).

    Any advice welcomed.
