that will explain why i cant find it then!. found heaps of pics of it on the net and just thought mine was hidden behind the plenum chamberis the IAC you refer to the Hex key bolt on the rear of the plenum chamber near the intake?

Perhaps your mechanic meant it is leaking fuel into the plenum, rather than the distributor. If so, that would be the cold-start injector at the top of the plenum on the driver's side; you could just plug the hose off as I'm told this only operates in extreme cold conditions e.g. European winter.
Or perhaps the injector seals are leaking onto the valley cover- if so, it's simply a matter of removing the injectors and replacing all the rubber seals that hold them in- easy and inexpensive.
I cleaned a set of injectors that were completely blocked up after sitting for 5 years on a LPG-only motor. The cleaning job involved an air compressor, a 3-volt switchable supply and some carby kleen, plus new rubber seals and baskets. They came up a treat.

This problem didn't by some chance appear after an LPG backfire??

i mentioned new seals to my mechanic and he said nah the injectors were shot. the car has been run on lpg for a while i think. the car has backfired on lpg but the problem was there when i got her. it may have backfired and stuffed her before i purchased her.

since i replaced the afm she hasnt backfired at all on lpg.

Yeah ,that should do it , but check it works before refitting . Sit base in Boiling hot water and observe if gates open and closeas it warms up and then cools down .Then do the electrical checks as per the manual
You should be able to find everything you need in read ALL of section 19 .
