    thanks for replies.

finally found few minutes to go and recheck this morning and pulled the cover off seat base and the maxi fuse is ok. everything seemed in its place.

think i've earned a wally award. the ecu connector i was checking was after reading something on an american site. was checking the wrong ecu, passenger's seat in US obviously means driver's seat in aus!

so......after actually shorting out the correct pins in the correct ecu plug could hear the compressor running. next i will pull a hose off somewhere to actually see if the compressor is moving much air around.

what are peoples' thought on what to do next. everything seems to be in place except the airbags.

so assuming compressor can pump air, just go for it - remove the coils and throw the airbags i have in and see what happens? if nothing, then from reading it looks like the appropriate pinouts can be shorted to get air into the bags then is it a matter of troubleshooting/checking/calibrating heights (will have to get the EASUnlock suite and make up a cable - anyone got one they no longer need or want to sell?).

obviously car is not a daily driver at the moment.

    thanks,
    brett.

I would make one of the EASunlocksuite cables. Plug that in and you'll be able to turn the compressor on/off with a key-stroke and be able to check all the height sensors are working.

EASunlocksuite can unlock from hard-fault I believe (always a possibility if the PO disabled the system) and reset the working heights too.

The EAS systems have generally been removed for a reason, and usually it is because the compressor has worn out due to air leaks. I would be going over the whole system, i.e. reconditioning the compressor, fitting a new compressor intake filter, overhauling the valve block and replacing all the o-rings in the springs. It's not a huge task, but if you put the system together with the faults still there that caused a previous owner enough frustration to fit coils, I think you'll only experience frustration yourself.

X2, - based on my own experience.

Brfly, bought the Event Horizon with a manual inflation set-up, pump u/s after being "reconditioned" by someone who should'nt have....

Had the pump re-built totally by someone who DID know what they were doing, and I later replaced all the innards in the valve body. Buy yourself some hooks/probes for removing O-rings. Worth every cent...

At the same time I built a complete self-rescue set and installed it on a temp. basis. It's still there....

Start with the air intake filter.

    - Guarantee it's cactus... Located behind the sub-woofer (if you have one) under an access plate, RH side of the boot.
The foam breaks down, bits get sucked into the pump.... usually sit on the valves which reduces sealing... so the pump runs longer...gets hotter...melts the bits on the valve so that it can't seal...so it runs longer...
The line from filter to the rear end of the Magic Box may also have bits of foam etc in it...

I replaced it with a chunk of shaped filter-foam.

Bottom line, - as stated - is to make the whole system leak-free.

    Pamper your pump !

went into enzed to get a push in connector for the airbags (want to replace 2 of them) but they only had plastic and couldn't help me any further. i believe they were 6mm x 1/8 BSPT. does that sound correct? can only find one place online with all metal ones and they will end up being $15 each to my door. any one got any supplier they have sourced them from?

following advice above, pulled the air filter out, actually looked in good condition, no crumbling, brittleness etc other than cutting up bit of foam to suit, anyone know a supplier who can provide the correct item? looked at the usual suspects but the part wasn't coming up on their listings.

the circlips that hold the aluminium ends in place, again anyone know a place to supply? could just ring a wrecker i guess.

making little to no progress but at least i'm enjoying it as it's not my DD!

    thanks.

Ebay can be useful... Have a look at these. Sure, they're cheap, but look very much like some I bought recently at a compressed-air shop.

10 PCS 1 8" PT Male Thread 6mm Push IN Joint Pneumatic Connector Quick Fittings | eBay

6mm Tube Pneumatic Straight Quick Coupling 1 8" Thread Brass Connector 5 PCS | eBay

You may want these for your 'self-rescue' system...
Schrader American Valve 1 8 BSPT S Steel AIR Compressor | eBay

For clips, this is, in my humble opinion, a ridiculous price. I bought similar from the UK, but dunno where. MUCH cheaper than this!

RANGE ROVER P38 FRONT AIR SPRING STEEL CLIPS (GENUINE) on eBay!

Try this for a better price... Air Spring Clip - NTC9449 | Discovery Series 2, Range Rover P38A | Land Rover, Range Rover | British Parts UK

Or this... Air Suspension Spring Clip NTC9449 ANR1220 Island 4x4 - Specialists in Land Rover and Range Rover Parts and accessories for all models. UK and worldwide mail order.

It pays to spend a bit of time trawling the net...

    How's that for starters ?
