I had a P6 3500S that came with a Holley 350 on it when I got it. It went very well until it dropped a big end. My replacement car was a RRC which had the horrid twin carb setup so I changed the carbs from one to the other. The RR went a lot better, was a lot more flexible at low speeds and drank a little bit less. With the twin carb setup it juddered something awful below 1500 rpm in third if I floored it but with the Holley I could floor it at idle in top with no juddering or hopping or anything.

I didn't need to buy anything apart from a longer cable and a manifold gasket - it was a straight swap.
    Cheers,

Maybe you needed to have the twin carbs tuned.
