A body lift should allow you to miss the guards - depending of course on tyre width/size and rim offset, you have mentioned a 40mm lift I have assumed that this is spring lift only.

Pity your not in SE Qld as I have spare 2 door panels

You could buy another set of guards (they come up on eBay a bit) and chop them to suit then keep your originals for a later resto (if that's what you were thinking of).
Thanks thats a good idea they dont scrape on the back and its only a few ml on the front, would love to give her the resto down the track still vey original inside and out.

    Hi,

My 74/81 2 door POS has a 50mm lift and was OK with 31 x 10.5 but then I changed rims to pseudo Hurricane alloys with a different offset and the guards will need a bit of a trim.

Have a spare set of front and rear guards that I won't part with, for a possible future resto. Suggest you start looking for some now as the real value of these things is starting to increase.

Good to see a few people thinking resto down the track, rather than chop and laugh. They are a classic after all.

    cheers, DL

The other option (which may be cheaper) is to put taller springs in (approx $350 fron & rear if you do it yourself)? What if you went to a 50mm lift (or slightly taller) from the 40mm you have? How old is the lift, perhaps the springs have sagged in the meantime?
    Cheers,
